It’s almost time to listen to the lexicon, “Drivers start your engines.” But this time it won’t be from the traditional venues that NASCAR fans are accustomed to. After a whirlwind of controversies and criticisms, the Windy City has transformed itself to welcome the group of one of the best drivers in the world on July 1st and 2nd along with a long list of pre-race festivities and pageantries.

While the imminent threat of venturing into the unchartered tracks of Chicago seems to bug the minds of the drivers and their teams alike, nonetheless, to give their weary minds a bit of rest, NBC the broadcaster for Sunday’s race hatched a game to put the drivers on a test. And the result was quite unique.

A motorsport enthusiast would surely remember the time when Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel drew the Circuit of Barcelona, blindfolded. And he drew it almost perfectly apart from some minor details, which were almost negligible. But this asserts the fact how significant it is to remember the track, in which the driver races. It helps in creating the groundwork, the strategy for the drivers and the team to follow.

Nevertheless, it is not just the Formula 1 drivers who have ingrained in them the twists and turns of tracks, the NASCAR drivers do not lag behind. They too have to memorize the tracks in which they race. But it seems that there is a hiccup when it comes to the inaugural tracks. The drivers are yet to get acclimatize themselves to the alien track and this was evident in the small clip posted by NBC on Twitter.

The drivers were asked to draw a rough sketch of the Chicago circuit. NBC wrote, “We asked @NASCAR drivers to draw the @NASCARChicagostreet course. How do you think they did?”

Nothing could be more hilarious than seeing the drivers drawing the sketch, as they fared poorly, apart from Christopher Bell.

In the roster of drivers, Bubba Wallace was up to his antics while sketching. He expressed, “A 90-degree turn another 90-degree turn.”

Denny Hamlin’s sketch was the most memorable one as his parental emotions took over while drawing. He added, “We got this kind of weird thing going on. Oh, look it’s a horsey.”

When Kevin Harvick took over the whiteboard, the driver employed the racing knowledge that he acquired over the years and marked the corners of the circuit that could turn fatal for the drivers. He asserted, “I think we will crash here, here, here, here, and probably here.”

While Chase Briscoe exclaimed while drawing, “There’s going to be a lot of chaos on all of this part of the racetrack.”

However, Kyle Larson, the speedster of Hendrick Motorsports expressed, “I think we might have some parking lots, some traffic jams. but I don’t know, sometimes we drive like professionals, so maybe we can figure it out.”

The drawings of the drivers may surely bring laughter to the faces of NASCAR fans, but not their driver skills. These drivers have buckled up to show their prowess on the inaugural track as they channel their way through the tight corners and narrow lanes. It is just a matter of a few hours before the audience gets to witness and be a part of the historic race.
