Brad Keselowski doesn’t just keep up with a packed schedule—he thrives on it. As both co-owner and lead driver of RFK Racing, he juggles an almost overwhelming mix of roles. Yet, it’s clear this is exactly how he likes it.
In a candid chat with Kelley Earnhardt Miller on the Business of Motorsports podcast, Keselowski opened up about his day-to-day life, his leadership philosophy, and how he manages to balance it all. From school drop-offs with his kids to RFK Racing’s impressive comeback under his stewardship, the 2012 Cup Series champion showed just how deeply involved he is at every level of the operation.

When Keselowski left Team Penske in 2022, he wasn’t just changing teams—he was stepping into a whole new world. His move to RFK Racing was bold, swapping a stable, successful environment for a full-on rebuild. A gamble? Sure. But Keselowski had his reasons. Since taking the reins, Keselowski has been on a mission to restore RFK Racing to its former glory. It’s a challenge he’s embraced wholeheartedly, and his typical day reflects that commitment.
“My weekdays start with taking my kids to school,” he said. “It’s one of my favorite things. Growing up, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with my dad, but one thing he always did was take me to school. That stuck with me, and it’s something I want to do with my kids. I’m not at the shop at 7 a.m.—I’m there whenever the drop-off line lets me out, and that’s okay. I love walking the shop floor. It’s probably my favorite thing to do. You get called into meetings, Zoom calls, and whatever fire needs putting out, but walking the floor is where I learn the most. Nine times out of ten, you see something and think, ‘Oh, that makes sense.’ But every now and then, you come across something where you think, ‘Whoa, back it up”
This hands-on approach is what defines Keselowski’s time with the team. While he may not be raking in the wins, he’s working in the background, bringing in sponsors like Kroger, negotiating for the third charter, and other important tasks that come with running a team. Moreover, Keselowski’s enthusiasm and involvement are reflected clearly in the work he puts in for RFK. In a video on the team’s YouTube channel, he walked fans through a digital tour of the factory, showing them his favorite spot in the HQ, the carbon room.
Keselowski also makes a point of connecting with his team over lunch. “Food brings people together,” he said. “I try to have lunch with employees almost every day—crew chiefs, team members, managers. Whoever it might be, the conversations are always valuable.”
Even his workouts serve as another way to build camaraderie. RFK’s performance center includes a gym where Keselowski often works out alongside the team. “I love working out with the guys—and it’s not always my team. It might be someone from the other side of the garage.” It might even be the pit crew from any of the teams working on one of the RFK cars!
Expansion, big moves, and championship goals

RFK Racing has made significant strides since Keselowski took over, but 2025 is shaping up to be its most ambitious year yet. The team has just added a third charter, bringing Ryan Preece on board alongside Keselowski and Chris Buescher. This expansion made possible through a deal with Rick Ware Racing, has also attracted Kroger as a major sponsor.

Another key addition for 2025 is a familiar face: Jeremy Bullins, Keselowski’s former crew chief from his Penske days. Bullins replaces Matt McCall, who played a major role in RFK’s recent success, including a memorable win at Darlington in 2024. “Matt’s done a fantastic job, and I can’t thank him enough for what he’s contributed,” Keselowski said. “But bringing Jeremy back is exciting. We’ve had great success together in the past, and I’m looking forward to building on that.”
RFK is also collaborating with the newly formed Haas Factory Team (HFT), a partnership that could prove to be a game-changer. RFK is providing technical expertise and support to HFT while benefiting from shared data and resources.
Whether he’s dropping his kids off at school, chatting with employees over lunch, or sweating it out in the gym, Keselowski’s approach to leadership is hands-on and heartfelt. And it’s working. With a growing team, strong partnerships, and a relentless drive for success, RFK Racing is poised for an exciting future.
