While many of us were still taking in and recovering from the shock of a news which was the double disqualification from Pocono, NASCAR delivered yet another home run in terms of penalties. The driver, on the other end this time, was Michael McDowell.
The Front Row Motorsports driver, his crew chief, and his team were recently given the Brad Keselowski Treatment which is to say they were given a penalty that took away 100 owner points, a $100,000 in fine, and a four-race suspension for the crew chief.
This was because the #34 car was found to be in violation of Section 14.1 C, D, and Q of the rule book, attracting an instant L2 penalty.

As you’d expect, the fans were mad. Really mad.
Almost all the fans were left scratching their heads as to why the #11 of Hamlin and the #18 of Busch were given just a disqualification, which compared to McDowell’s penalty and considering the resources of JGR and FRM, is nothing.
Now do Gibbs racing. Your bias is showing.

Okay but what about the 11 and 18!?!?How is this any different?!?!?

Jeez holy crap laying down laws for everyone. This points penalty should’ve been the 18 and 11

Hendrick teams never get fined like that. In fact, they "inherit" victories. Shocking considering the owner is an ex con pardoned by Bill Clinton.

Hamlin and Busch better get the same treatment

Ford needs to pack up and leave the sport. Absolutely no fairness or consistencies with penalties.

Michael McDowell had recently made a big claim about his NASCAR Playoff chances
Right after the race in Pocono, Michael McDowell reacted to a tweet by NASCAR that had an infographic picture of the drivers who can still make it to the playoffs with five races to go.

McDowell, even though, wasn’t in the picture, he nevertheless was optimistic about his chances of doing so.
“One point away from being in that picture. One win away from not needing to be in that picture. Bring on @IMS 🏁,” he replied.
Unfortunately for him, his chances of qualifying for the playoffs have now taken a big hit after the massive penalty that has come his way which goes to show that John Lennon was right when he said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”
