Ever since Elon Musk took charge of Twitter last year, he has been more often than not the talk of the hour. While the SpaceX owner has achieved some wonderful things, he has been facing a lot of heat lately. In fact, one of his recent decisions has enraged the public, including Hailie Deegan’s boyfriend, Chase Cabre. Cabre cites the example of a recent announcement concerning Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Racing to prove his point.

Musk and Twitter have enjoyed the spotlight for some time now. In November 2022, the 51-year-old implemented an $8 monthly subscription program to keep a verified account possessing blue checkmarks. However, it was only recently that Twitter started removing those checkmarks. It only makes one wonder what does this have to do with Cabre and Denny Hamlin? Let’s take a look.

Chase Cabre and Hailie Deegan have been dating for some time now. However, last year, they went through an unforgettable experience. Apparently, Deegan had a stalker, who was in love with her and later sent her death threats. The 21-year-old racer was of the opinion that her stalker was a victim of a catfishing act.

Furthermore, the concerned person went on social media and discredited her actual relationship. Things only got wild when it was learned that the stalker had a past criminal record and threatened to kill Cabre. While no harm was caused to the 26-year-old, a recent Twitter act brought back those dark memories.

Since Musk’s decision to remove the blue checkmarks, the credibility of a Twitter account is unknown. Taking advantage of this, a parody account of Joe Gibbs Racing with the handle name “Joe Glbbs Racing” created a controversy. It said, “Denny Hamlin will not return to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2024.”

Since the handle name is too easy to disguise as the real name, many believed this news to be true. Most importantly, as they were no blue checkmark for confirmation, NASCAR fans were confused and in a panic situation. Referring to this, Chase Cabre tweeted his frustration at Elon Musk’s move of making those blue checkmarks disappear.

He said, “Great job Twitter. Now removing verification badges not only causes this but doesn’t help in instances like our stalker case. Easy for people to impose as others now. Putting peoples safety aside for $… what a world we live in.”

Cabre isn’t entirely wrong there, but fans pointed out that running a massive company like Twitter demands money and this is one way to make them. Not that Musk is right or wrong, but there are always two sides to a coin.

Twitter is one of the most widely used social media platforms. To be honest, it has become a daily source of information for plenty. In a time where credibility is such a big question mark on social media, Musk’s move to remove the verification badges divides opinions.

Interestingly, veteran NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin couldn’t really agree with Chase Cabre’s comments. He said, “Chase – I’ll give you $8. How many races will a race team run if they’re losing money every month. Free ain’t free. Come see me some time and I’ll gladly explain.” In fact, many others spoke in line with what Griffin did.

“Then they can pay for it. They have the $$.”

“Shut up. Joe Gobbs can buy the verification if they don’t want the confusion. It’s $8 damn dollars…”

However, there were others who sided with Cabre too.
