The stars seem to keep aligning for Hailie Deegan, who recently signed a sensational multi-year deal with AM Racing to drive the No.15 Mustang in the Xfinity Series. Joining the team’s two entries, Deegan is setting her sights on proving her worth once and for all after a lackluster Truck Series campaign. While the announcement came just in time to kick off Hailie Deegan’s winter festivities, she could have screwed up the deal if her fiance had decided to listen to her instead!
It’s no secret that Chase Cabre has been the star in Hailie Deegan’s eyes for years at this point, and for good reason. AM Racing approached the 26-year-old before Hailie Deegan had any idea of the proposition. While Deegan was worried about cutting it close at the driver introductions, Cabre had his priorities straight, possibly sealing Deegan’s Xfinity future.

Speaking to Parker Kligerman and Landon Cassill on The Money Lap podcast, Hailie Deegan took her fellow Xfinity drivers back to when her dream became a reality. But Cabre was there to see it first at the Circuit of The Americas during the Truck Series race when AM Racing pulled him to the side. Deegan added, “The story goes back to COTA during the truck race there. I was headed to driver intro, and my now fiance, Chase, was walking around the garage with his camera and stuff. We’re about to head to the driver intros when someone pulled him into one of the Xfinity haulers, it was the guys from AM Racing.”
Further elaborating on how things went down, Deegan shared that the reason they got a hold of Cabre instead of her directly was because they just didn’t know how to. But while Cabre was keenly hearing out the most important conversation for her future, Deegan was worried about missing the driver introductions! She added, “I’m texting Chase. I’m like, ‘Dude intros are starting where are you we gotta film this, where are you at?’ And he’s like, ‘It’s important, I’ll be over there in a bit.’ and ‘I’m like what is so important?’”
Whilst Deegan was losing her cool with her fiance, when reflecting on what was actually going on behind the scenes later, she shared, “But I’m really glad I didn’t talk him out of going to that meeting to go films intros and so it definitely, that’s where everything started from. And it just took off from there and we started conversations, a lot of dinner meetings, and next thing you know I’m racing in Xfinity full time!”

While Chase Cabre was the one who AM Racing broke the news to, Hailie Deegan’s social media presence is a big factor that contributed to the deal becoming a reality in the first place. With over 1.5 million followers on Instagram, Deegan is one of the most popular NASCAR drivers on social media. But it hasn’t come easy for her. She shared, “It comes with a lot of work, a lot of time and effort is put into social media, but there’s a value in it.”
While it may be a job on its own to manage a social media page as big as hers, the benefits that such a following bestow upon a driver is endless. Deegan elaborated, “That’s why I’m able to pull sponsors and certain sponsors that wouldn’t be a part of NASCAR come in because of my social media following and get hooked on it. It’s a good grabber.”
