In the world of NASCAR, Hailie Deegan stands as a beacon of female empowerment, steadfast in her quest to ascend the NASCAR ladder and make a mark in the Xfinity races. Yet, as she eyes the climb, the path grows steeper, with shadows of trials stretching across her journey week after week.
Navigating through the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Deegan’s vehicle kissed the top 10 just once. Eager to outdo herself, she now faces a new storm cloud looming large on her horizon as she steers toward the Talladega race.

Hailie Deegan, the rising star of Thorsport, seems to have hit a bumpy patch in her race to glory. Recent ripples in her on-track performance have set alarms ringing not just for her Thorsport team but for her career as well. Despite a strategic switch from crew chief Rich Lushes to Brian Ross, intended to kickstart her flagging performance, the results have been fruitless. The dimming spotlight on her Xfinity Series ambitions grows fainter still.
Furthermore, as the raceway points to Talladega, Deegan recently pulled a new card from her deck. She unveiled a fresh sponsorship with Odyssey Battery, donning a vibrant new paint scheme on her truck. But even that, against the odds, was unsuccessful. The news failed to set the fan world abuzz, leaving a chorus of frustration and disappointment reverberating instead.
As if the path wasn’t twisted enough, Bob Pockrass’s tweet dropped like a bolt from the blue, revealing that Deegan’s truck flunked the pre-race inspection not once but twice! Consequently, she’s set to lose her pit selection for Homestead. Pockrass’s tweet painted a grim picture: “The Heim and Deegan trucks failed tech twice and will lose pit selection for Homestead. They still need to pass in the morning. The Greenfield and Cobb trucks also have to get through tech in the morning (still have work done, but haven’t been through twice). Cup tech is Saturday.”

Indeed, the ThorSport team certainly should have gone over the truck with a fine-tooth comb to sidestep this predicament, especially considering the problems Hailie Deegan is already facing. Regrettably, the step was overlooked. However, despite the mounting challenges, hope seems to be flickering.

While Hailie Deegan soared in Tony Stewart’s extravagant $40 million SRX endeavor, her journey on the NASCAR Truck Series terrain appears riddled with potholes. Embarking on the NASCAR path at the tender age of 18, she etched her name with a respectable 16th finish at Kansas Speedway in 2020. But recent times have cast storm clouds over her racing narrative.
Her on-track skirmishes and unfiltered expletives have fueled speculation about her gear shift to the next tier. Yet whispers of hope murmur through the air as the fleet speeds towards Talladega. Having battled on this ground merely twice, Deegan’s October 2022 race stands out like a beacon, where she clinched a remarkable P6 finish.
