Hailie Deegan is a rising female talent in the world of the NASCAR Truck Series. She made history by receiving her second top 10 finish at a road course layout. That made her the first woman to do so since Shawna Robinson in 1994. However, recently, she shared that she once had a near-death experience and surprisingly, it was not in racing.

During the conversation, Deegan mentioned, that she, her boyfriend, and her brother along with several other friends were floating on rafts and enjoying themselves. When they encountered a spillway, which was about a foot deep.
She then said, “The problem was it rained and it was going a lot quicker. We go down, my brother goes first and we are all connected and we push my brother out. Thank god he got pushed out.
She further added, “My boyfriend’s leg is caught all of a sudden I’m down there getting dragged across the bottom cement. Because it’s tied around my wrist and then I just couldn’t get out. It was like 30 seconds that went by and I am starting to inhale water because you can’t see the surface.”

She concluded her scary ordeal by saying that after another 20 seconds the rope loosened from her hands and she came back up.
Hailie Deegan once encountered a bear while out camping with her family

Deegan said that when she went on her first camping trip around the age of nine with her family and another family. While hiking up the river with her best friend they saw a den with a bear inside.
They were so frightened at the sight of the bear that Deegan froze in place. Her friend started screaming and pushed Deegan into the river to save her.

This was another one of Hailie Deegan’s near-death experiences. Although she has been involved in wrecks during races, she states that the closest she felt to dying was during these incidents.
