Hailie Deegan may not have started the 2023 Craftsman Truck Series on the right foot. But that doesn’t dampen her racing spirits and flaunting it on the other formats of stock car racing. To add to her racing resume, the Truck Series driver was selected to race full time in Tony Stewart’s Camping SRX Series, beginning with the 2023 season. 

The SRX Racing Series was back for the third season, with the star and veteran drivers from the world of NASCAR made their appearance on the tracks of Stafford. While the race was again threatened by the rains, it was assuredly exhilarating for the drivers. And it may have been the most exhilarating for Hailie Deegan, who outshined the veterans as she dropped her conceited thoughts, post-race.

Hailie Deegan Makes an Unexpected Remark After Her First Full-Time Race at SRX Racing

The SRX Racing series was the brainchild of the Hall of Famer Tony Stewart. The series, in an effort to bring the star drivers belonging to the world of motorsport racing, across different formats, was co-founded by Sandy Montag and George Pyne. The series with six consecutive weeks of racing, kick-started with the first race at Stafford Motor Speedway. 

While the rain forced the race to be curtailed, it was Denny Hamlin who tasted the first victory in his debut season. However, it was Hailie Deegan who stole the show in her first year of racing full-time in the series. The Truck Series driver even outlasted the veterans of the Cup Series, including Kevin Harvick and the host of the series, Tony Stewart himself.

Deegan completed the race in the 5th position and ahead of Marco Andretti, who is also the defending champion of the series. Considering all of this, it seems the favorable result was a big deal for Deegan.

In the post-race interview with Frontstretch, the ThorSport Racing driver, revealed, “So I was pretty happy with how our overall setup was and I knew that we would be able to drive through quite a few people or drive past types of people not drive through them but that was my goal and we were able to finish this and have a special day.”

While Deegan delivered a spectacular result, Stewart, on the other hand, finished 11th a rank just ahead of Kevin Harvick, who ranked at the bottom of the points table. Moreover, Harvick’s car faced problems with oil pressure and was caught up in a pile-up in lap six. Although most of the cars were embroiled in the wreck, it was Harvick who had to retire from the race early due to the pile-up.

Nonetheless, Deegan in the opening race of SRX surely proved the fact that she still has the thirst to prove her driving skills. On the contrary, Deegan in the Truck Series is surely embroiled in a number of controversies due to her aggressive style of racing and is yet to deliver any top-10 results.

Very recently, she was even called ‘talentless’ by Lawless Alan after the ThorSport Racing driver shoved Alan out of contention and put an end to their racing early. A frustrated Alan expressed to the media, “I don’t think there’s much to say, she’s talentless, she just sailed it off in there and it’s lap block 3. It’s not the first time she’s wrecked me, umm she does it to fucking everybody.”

However, it was Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, who came to the rescue and showed his support for Deegan. What looked like a stern reply to Alan, the veteran spotter exclaimed, “There’s nobody out there that’s talentless. Maybe there are some that are more talented than others.”

There is no denying the fact that Deegan is surely a talented driver, but if her current forms continue in the latter part of the season, the young driver will surely end up in a difficult spot.
