One of the NASCAR Truck Series’ shining stars, Hailie Deegan, is on the brink of joining the Xfinity Series after a three-year stint in the Truck Series. As a standout in the Ford junior driver lineup, Deegan’s potential leap next season is eagerly anticipated. Given her quest to secure a spot in the Xfinity, she should no doubt be well-versed with its marquee races.
Intriguingly, her boyfriend, also a stock car racing driver, either seems unfamiliar with the nuances of the Cup and Xfinity Series races or possibly just had a momentary lapse, as suggested by his recent comment on the Daytona 500 during a casual chat with Deegan.

Despite the notable shuffle within her team—moving Ben Rhodes’ crew chief Rich Lushes to lead Hailie Deegan’s No. 13 Ford F-150 truck, only to reunite Lushes with Rhodes later and bringing in Brian Ross as her new crew captain—Deegan’s performance seems to be in a slump, as she finished P17 at Bristol.
And now, in the midst of these developments, a recent video upload showed Deegan and her boyfriend, Chase Cabre, en route to the Off-Axis 500 race.
What stirred the online world was Cabre’s assertion, placing the significance of the Daytona 500 race below that of the Off-Axis 500. He was heard saying, “I think this is by far the biggest race we’ll run all year. I mean like there’s Chili Bowl, there’s Daytona 500, Indy 500, and then they’re all right here, and then you have Off Axis 500, like this is the epitome of racing; I mean, the pinnacle event of the year.”
Moreover, Hailie Deegan did not correct him. This surprising lack of awareness about the esteemed Daytona 500’s significance in the racing world has raised a few eyebrows. It underscores the importance of understanding and respecting the caliber of events one aspires to join, reflecting genuine enthusiasm and commitment to the sport.
Such conversations involving Deegan are not the only thing that is getting fans’ attention. Concerns are also burgeoning regarding her on-track demeanor, which might be another obstacle in her racing journey.

Hailie Deegan’s conduct on the racetrack is calling attention and speculation to her professional future. One significant adversary she often faces in the Truck Series is Dean Thompson. Their intense on-track confrontations have become a common sight. However, concerns aren’t limited to this robust rivalry.
During a recent Kansas race, a radio conversation between Hailie Deegan and her spotter laid bare a concerning sentiment. Facing a setback against Thompson, Deegan’s aggressive utterance, “I’m junking the mother******,” exposed a decidedly unsportsmanlike spirit.

While fervor and resolve are essential in racing, succumbing to unbridled emotions and allowing them to dictate on-track decisions can have adverse effects. Such conduct can cause hesitation among teams to invest their future in a driver, fearing unpredictability and impulsiveness. Despite these challenges and her ongoing struggles in the Truck Series, recent tweets from Bob Pockrass hint at a potential move for Deegan to Xfinity next season.
AM Racing announced it will expand to two Xfinity cars next season. Brett Moffitt is currently full time in one of the cars. A Ford team, it could be a landing spot for Hailie Deegan if Ford is looking for her to move to Xfinity. Still TBA on her plans.
