During the interview, a reporter wasted no time in diving into the heart of the matter, asking the Hendrick Motorsports star about what stood out more to him at that very moment – knocking another crown jewel off the Southern 500 or the realization that he had advanced in the playoffs with a shot at winning the championship once more.

“Well, I mean had I not won anyways I feel like we would have a chance to win the championship but I mean really honestly I’m happy to win a crown jewel,” Kyle Larson stated. “A place that we’ve been close to winning at a place that we [Him and Daniels] both have wanted to win at for a very long time. And then just to start the playoffs off good. I would have been you happy just to get a good solid race and so to win it feels obviously better and I hope that we can just put multiple weeks together like we did today.”

He further stated, “Not necessarily wins I know we’ll be capable of winning every race in the playoffs but really I just want to put together solid races from start to finish, get stage points, you know, get some stage wins would be great and then you know get some good finishes at the end of it so yeah we did today and it’s been a long time since we put a full race together so yeah I just want to build on that.”

Starting the race from the 18th position added another complexity to Larson’s journey. He had to engage in a fierce battle with half of the grid to reach a place where he could contend for the lead. Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing loomed close in his rearview mirror as he claimed the coveted top spot. In the heat of the moment, Larson’s focus remained unwavering, his sole mission to safeguard his lead.

Post-race, Kyle spoke about his struggles at Darlington and what helped him quinch the victory.
