It has not been the greatest of beginnings for Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing to the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. The 27-year-old slumped to another dismal showing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a bottom half finish.

Wallace actually got off to a very decent start in last evening’s race, getting up to 15th at one point in time. But, a few mechanical errors marred his momentum and flow, which led to a bad day at the office in the end.

Naturally, the sum of all parts is that Wallace has not been able to showcase his fullest potential just yet. But taking to Twitter, the 23XI Racing driver has said that he and his team will continue ‘fighting’ and ‘learning’.

Proud of this team and the progress we made, said Bubba Wallace

Wallace’s tweet’s caption read, “Growing pains. We’ll continue fighting, learning, adapting.”

“Proud of this team and the progress we made throughout the race, sometimes things are just out of your control though. If things don’t go your way, use it as a learning experience.”

Undoubtedly, having superstars like Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin leading the charge for their team means Wallace would get some much-needed motivation. But at the same time, there will also be a pressure to deliver results and establish 23XI Racing’s reputation.

Wallace would want to do well in the next few races of the season

Following Sunday’s results at Las Vegas, Wallace now sits in 20th in the drivers’ standings. Certainly, for a racer that wants to take the next step, eyeing a Playoffs spot would become a natural objective.

The next few races at Phoenix, Atlanta and Bristol would prove to be crucial as he aims to generate some confidence. Wallace would in fact relish driving at Bristol given his track record, with 4 top-half finishes in his last 5 race starts there.
