However, the 48-year-old himself has come out to shed light on the important aspects that helped him reach the level he is at.
After running 19 full-time NASCAR Cup seasons with 83 wins he was recently inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The co-owner of Legacy Motor Club has several records to his name, the most notable one being the most (7) NASCAR Cup Series championship. So given a race car driver who still is going strong after years of success, one would think he has done everything there is to win the hearts of the community and fans right? However, his respect notched even higher when he credited his Hall of Fame induction to his entire team and stressed that the sport is more than just individual brilliance
Speaking on his induction to the NASCAR Hall of Fame on NBC’s TV program Today, Johnson said, “I mean I’m very grateful for the success I’ve had in the car but it’s been so much fun to lean into the experience and to share the moment with so many people that helped me get here. As a race driver, I often get looked at as just the one who gets it done. People don’t realize how big of a team sport it really is. So after 19 years of full-time Cup racing I get to go into the Hall of Fame and there’s a lot of people to share that with.”
Talking about the team effort, the sponsors play a vital role in the driver’s ambitions and goals for the season in NASCAR. Johnson will have the support of his long-time sponsor Carvana going in the 2024 Cup Series season. The used car retailer will be featured as the primary sponsor for Johnson’s No.84 Toyota Camry XSE at the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, and the season finale at Phoenix.
