Kevin Harvick’s legacy in NASCAR is evergreen – yet now he already has two successors on the way. His son Keelan Harvick is the trendsetter – most recently he finished 8th during the South Carolina 400 at Florence Motor Speedway. But Harvick’s daughter, Piper, is also growing steadily, to the delight of her mother.

The adorable 8-year-old made her go-karting debut in July 2023. Since then, she has picked up some impressive race finishes at Trackhouse Motorplex – she clinched a P2 finish in the Kid Kart class last year. Now as Piper grows a year younger, DeLana Harvick posts her pride in being the mother of this wonder kid.

Kevin Harvick’s daughter gets a shower of blessings

The Harvick couple’s union happened in the racing world. DeLana, the daughter of Busch Series driver John Linville, was working in public relations for Randy LaJoie in 1999 when she met Kevin Harvick. They went on to marry in 2001, and founded Kevin Harvick Incorporated together, an organization that has churned out many talented drivers. Their bundles of joy are now carrying forward this racing tradition – and DeLana could not be more proud.

Piper Harvick cut the cake recently and her mother poured forth her love. DeLana Harvick penned an affectionate message on social media to commemorate the occasion. “Happy 7th Birthday to my sassy, independent, witty, spicy, loving, no BS little red head. I am so grateful God chose me to be your momma!” Piper’s nickname ‘Sass’ describes her vibrant nature and steadfast resolve quite well. Her brother Keelan also hopped aboard the celebrations and reshared DeLana’s X post. He wrote, “Happy Birthday P! ✌🏻”

Piper Harvick is the apple of the eye of her loving father as well. Kevin Harvick was fascinated to see her put on a ‘game face’ when she participated in a go-karting event in 2023. She stared straight into the camera with fierce-looking eyes, and Harvick wrote, “She’s intense.” Indeed, Piper was as she went on to fetch a runner-up finish. This year, Harvick was glad to see Kyle Larson’s daughter Audrey striking a special camaraderie with Piper in September. “Piper had the best day she’s ever had. The reason it was so great was that she got to be the teacher she wanted to teach Audrey how to go around the track.”

Piper is helping Kevin Harvick carry forward his racing legacy. However, an important part of that legacy is now gone, and the Harvick household misses it.

In December 2023, Piper Harvick appeared in a fun video with Stewart-Haas Racing. She was bossing around the No. 4 Ford team, Kevin Harvick’s workplace, with her typical ‘sassy’ attitude, and garnered a lot of admiration from fans. However, Piper did not expect that the team would cease to exist less than a year later. Tony Stewart shut his 16-year-old Cup Series team at the end of the 2024 season, bidding adieu to 70 race wins and 2 championships. Before Chase Briscoe won in Darlington, Harvick was the last to win for the team in 2022, at Michigan and Richmond.

“It’s tough to see,” Kevin Harvick said as he got a pang of grief when he heard of the team’s fate. His better half also made a similar reaction, as DeLana recollected emotional memories with SHR. “I’ve heard the rumblings just like everybody else, but to see it in writing is still hard to believe. Pops and I were so fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of people for the last chapter in his career. SHR was like a second family, especially the 4 team, and my heart hurts for all the wonderful men and women wondering what’s next. Sending lots of positive energy to them all as this chapter closes.” 

Yet as one door closes, another one opens. DeLana Harvick now has two bright stars to be the torchbearers of the Harvick racing legacy.
