The 2024 silly season in the Truck Series has been as mind-bending as it has been in the Cup Series. One of the most expected decisions to come out of the 3rd tier of racing in the country was over the replacement for the 22-year-old Colby Howard in the garages of CR7 Motorsports. Through a new update, the team has confirmed that they brought in Grant Enfinger to pilot the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado RST. Enfinger already had ties with the team via a sporadic run in 2021 and has now signed on to run full-time with them.

Grant Enfinger signs for CR7 Motorsports to drive the No. 9 Truck

In 2023, Enfinger finished 2nd in points in the Craftsman Truck Series. The 38-year-old is a Truck Series veteran who has 173 starts in 7 full-time seasons in the series. Over this time, he has accumulated 10 victory lane visits and 58 top-5s. He has also been a part of several teams including ThorSport Racing and GMS Racing, his most recent one.

Enfinger expressed his pleasure in signing for the team saying, “I am extremely excited about this opportunity. I have known Codie [Rohrbaugh] and his family for a long time and they have become like family to me.” CR7 Motorsports is a single-truck team owned and run by Codie Rohrbaugh. With GMS Racing shutting down operations in 2024, Enfinger’s sponsor Champion Power Equipment will follow him to his new team.

The 2023 season was Grant Enfinger’s career-best finish in NASCAR. An action-packed season finale at Phoenix saw Ben Rhodes edge past Enfinger in the final lap of the race and take the championship. Though he lost out on a wonderful opportunity to etch his name in the history books, Enfinger is confident about his chances going forward. He also said, “I feel like we have all the right pieces in place. With Chevrolet’s help and support, we were able to put this together and have the resources it takes to truly win races and contend for championships.”

The coming season will be his eighth full-time season in the Truck Series, the first coming in 2017. To make a championship possible for him in 2024, he will be armed with the expertise and experience of Jeff Stankiewicz, a championship-winning crew chief. In 2020, Stankiewicz led the truck of Sheldon Creed to its Truck Series championship with GMS Racing. Hopefully, some of the championship luck from him will rub off on Enfinger and the veteran will get the chance to finally bring home his own Truck Series championship.
