The 2024 NASCAR season wasn’t a huge success for Bubba Wallace and the #23 team. Having found the speed early in the season, lack of consistent results and race-winning speed hampered the team runs. Ultimately, Wallace wasn’t able to secure his spot in the playoffs. However, as far as personal life goes, the 23XI star was blessed with a baby boy as he became a father for the first time.
Wallace and his wife Amanda welcomed Becks Hayen Wallace in September. Similar to a rookie racing season, parenthood will present new challenges for the couple, including an increase in family expenses. However, the 31-year-old seems to have found a way to tackle these new costs with the help of his golfing hobby.

Bubba Wallace is looking to get even with Erick Lottary
Now we all know how passionate both Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin are about their golf. It looks like the owner’s influence has now seeped into their drivers with Bubba Wallace trying his hand at a different sport. But unlike the NASCAR racetracks, Wallace had a tough time trying to get up to speed with the nuances of the golfing. During this process, he even lost some money while trying his luck against seasoned players.
Musician Erick Lottary was the one against whom Wallace lost $100. Lottary is a seasoned golfer and visits courses across North Carolina regularly. “I’ve golfed with Bubba before and won money off of him too. You know a little $100. Yeah, he could play; he might not be playing as much, but he can play when I play with him.” Lottary revealed the story while speaking to rnggoldclub on Instagram.
Well, taking an L on the racetrack or a golf course hurts the same. This is why Bubba Wallace has vowed to script a redemption run and get even with his golf partner. The prospect of earning $100 is another motivating factor for the NASCAR driver. Reacting to the social media post, Wallace took to Instagram and replied, “Hahaha, let’s run it back. Got a kid to pay for now @eriklottary.”

It won’t be easy for Lottary to keep Bubba Wallace away from his prize. Back in 2021, Wallace debuted on the Golf Guys Tour, a group made up of NASCAR folks who liked to call themselves “the most frustrated amateurs on tour.” These NASCAR drivers don’t slack when it comes to golf, maintaining the scores just like the PGA Tour does. As tour founder Denny Hamlin went on to explain, despite the 2021 event being Wallace’s first time participating, he gave them a run for the money.
In a surprise move after taking up a filler role, Wallace stunned participants by winning the event. Wallace even celebrated by drinking beer out of a trophy, as seen by a picture he posted later on Instagram. It’s no surprise these drivers love golf. It’s a good way of relaxing from the high-stakes competition of NASCAR. And for Bubba Wallace, a golf outing with Lottary might just be a great way to relax after the season he had. Regardless, the cheeky challenge Wallace issued on Instagram was a reminder of his return to social media.
