The 2024 Indy 500 captured people’s attention for one overarching element. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson debuted in the race, which was followed by a desperate Coca-Cola 600 attempt. However, the weather gods played spoilsport with Larson’s 1100-mile double plans, and he hung his head in despair.

But not all things were gloomy at the Indy race. Retired motorsport athlete Danica Patrick’s bright outfit was far from gloomy. Patrick was at the Gainsbridge-sponsored event for broadcast duties. She drew charmed responses from gleeful race fans, including the close family of one of her NASCAR rivals.

As thunderstorms afflicted the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, track president Doug Boles had to issue a delay. The Indy 500 was late by four hours as dark, gloomy rain clouds hovered above. But Danica Patrick acted as a beacon of light. She executed her broadcasting duties in a sunny yellow outfit, adding color to the gray day.

Danica Patrick’s Indy 500 duty began five years ago, in 2019. She retired after her eighth appearance at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” which prepped her novel TV career. Yet she had previous analyst experience from three Xfinity Series races with Fox Sports. Patrick was also the first woman to host the ESPYs.

NBCSN executive producer Sam Flood showered praise on her Indy broadcast debut. “Danica has a perspective unlike any other driver in the history of motorsports and will be a great addition to our first-ever coverage of the Indy 500,” he added. “She has proven to be as fearless with her opinions and analysis as she was in breaking barriers while racing in the most competitive motorsports circuits in the world.”

In a recent Instagram post, Danica Patrick echoed her love for the Indy 500 while praising the weather-delayed performance. “What a fun Indy 500 weekend!!!!! The rain came, and then the skies cleared for a great race! Truly my favorite race in the world!” Patrick demonstrated her fascination for the race by dressing up at her best. And incidentally, a past NASCAR rival’s wife praised her outfit.

In 2017, Danica Patrick ran a wreck-riddled I Love New York 355 at Watkins Glen International. She fell prey to rowdy Kyle Busch’s exploits, as the former JGR driver spun her in Stage 3. She hurtled expletives at him after the race: “F***ing 18 absolutely f***ing took me out!” Patrick added: “Now I know why people hate him!” All-Star memories ringing a bell?”

Yet the tables seem to have turned as Busch’s better half, along with other NASCAR fans, admired Patrick’s outfit at Indy.

Danica Patrick always had a penchant for a rigorous physical routine. Practicing yoga diligently, the former Cup driver also paid attention to her mental health. Hence she scored brilliantly on both mental and physical levels and carried the beautiful yellow outfit at Indy.

Samantha Busch agreed with this sentiment, ignoring Patrick’s past dramatic wash-up with her husband Rowdy Busch. She drooled over the sunshine dress, dropping a yellow heart as evidence. “You look gorgeous! Love this outfit 💛”

Then other motorsport personalities followed suit. Scottish racer and 3-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti’s wife also could not help commenting. Eleanor Franchitti gleefully wrote about Patrick’s look and charismatic personality: “Best dressed and funniest!! 😂💗” Part-time NASCAR Xfinity driver Natalie Decker’s mother also chimed in. Amy Lynn Decker commented: “Love the picture of you and your dad in the booth 😍😍”

Danica Patrick’s gorgeous outfit also caught the eyes of the Formula One community. Natalie Pinkham, Formula One pit lane reporter for Sky Sports F1, commented on the yellow dress: “Love love love this look on you 😍”

Six years after departing from motorsport, Danica Patrick is still popular among motorsport entities. Quite naturally so, as she remains the only full-time Cup driver to date.
