The competition in the NASCAR Cup Series is not getting any easier and to that end, drivers, teams, and engine manufacturers are doing everything they can to outpace rivals. Ford recently unveiled the brand-new Mustang earlier this month, christened “Dark Horse.” Now, it is time for one of their competitors to unveil what they are set to bring to the table. The manufacturer in question is none other than Toyota.

There were only two teams that raced the Japanese machines in the 2023 Cup Series season, but both teams ran quite well. Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI Racing got multiple drivers into the playoffs and things are only looking good. However, their latest teaser has some left fans in doubt.

The 2024 season will see Jimmie Johnson’s Legacy Motor Club enter the Toyota fold. The team used to have Chevrolet as their engine manufacturer but will switch things up. This obviously be a positive for Toyota as a manufacturer they will have a new team to run with. Legacy Motor Club’s newest addition, John Hunter Nemechek has been driving Toyotas in Truck and Xfinity Series since 2021, and won 7 races driving Joe Gibbs Racing’s #20 Toyota Supra in Xfinity this year.

Expectations will be high at 23XI Racing as well. After getting both their cars into the playoffs, the Michael Jordan-owned racing outfit will be looking to challenge for race wins more regularly in 2024. A lot of that will depend on what Toyota comes up with. Of course, Joe Gibbs Racing is one of the biggest teams in the competition and they will expect nothing short of perfection from the Japanese manufacturer.

Ford’s recent unveiling of the Dark Horse has caused a stir in the motorsports world. The American manufacturer won the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series in 2023 despite not being very competitive in the earlier part of the season. It will be imperative for Chevrolet and Toyota to one-up their arch rival in 2024.

Some fans were not happy with the recent development and they certainly did not mince their words, directing their dissatisfaction towards the Japanese manufacturer. “I like the current camry tbh,” wrote one fan to which another penned a scathing reply. “So do I. I mean, f**k, why change it? It’s basically the same damn car underneath the bodywork anyway, right?” they asked.

Another user speculated that the car would look like something out of the animated world of Spongebob Squarepants. “Car insides are the same just exterior is gonna look like squidwards house,” they commented. “As an avid Toyota fan… My expectations are low. I loved the old Camry,” commented another user.

However, there were quite a few people excited about the new Toyota Camry. One such fan expressed their impatience, commenting, “Just unveil it already!” Another user revealed that they had already seen the new car in a Toyota dealership and that it didn’t look bad. I saw the 2025 Camry IRL in front of a Toyota dealership a couple of days ago…and it doesn’t look half bad,” they commented.
