Racing at the highest level of NASCAR is tough. It demands a lot of physical, mental, and emotional commitment as well as a big compromise with the idea of living “a normal life.” Perhaps this is why some racecar drivers choose to stay away from the racing part of the sport once they retire. Then there are some who continue to satisfy their need for the thrill, their passion, and their love; some, just like Tony Stewart.

To say that Stewart has retired would be considered a misleading statement. A more accurate description would be that he has retired from NASCAR and that too, from the driving part.

Smoke is still a major figure in the sport as the co-owner of Stewart Haas Racing. Moreover, he is still the most active racer among his peers and those from his time. Stewart runs in the SRX Series and quite recently, in the NHRA with his own team.

On top of that, he decided to sign off this year with yet another challenge, another competition. The Hall of Famer recently competed at the Rumble in Fort Wayne, leaving his fans just as excited and satisfied to see the driver they love doing what he does best.

Stewart has his fans excited as he continues racing even after retirement

Stewart updated his fans about his participation at the Rumble with a small video in a tweet that read, “Ready to rumble. A great way to end the year.”

His fans, naturally, were psyched and supportive of his seemingly never-ending racing career as Smoke ended his 2022 on a high.

Last year, during a pre-race show at Eldora Speedway, Tony Stewart named the current NASCAR driver who he believes is better than he was. That driver is Hendrick Motorsports‘ #5, Kyle Larson.

“Kyle Larson is better than I was,” he said, according to Autoweek. When questioned whether he truly believes in what he said, an obvious question considering the great legacy and career of Stewart, the man simply replied, “I do.”
