With much fanfare, Denny Hamlin recently started a new podcast in partnership with Dale Earnhardt Jr. In the very first episode, he spoke on a variety of subjects, chief among them being the recently concluded race at the Coliseum. But he had more than just the race to talk about.

During a Fox Sports broadcast, a number of driver caricatures were shown, and Hamlin did not like his own, at all. One thing he hated about it, was the fact that he was depicted with a goatee, which is not a signature Hamlin look.

He mentioned on his podcast, “Speaking of Fox, man. Gosh! We got those caricatures back again. I’ve never had a goatee my whole life! I don’t understand where they’re getting these caricatures that they’re drawing. Hey listen, I love it because they give me a massive body build. But man! Fox please! Give us our faces back.”

What else did Denny Hamlin say in his podcast?

The #11 Joe Gibbs Racing driver confessed that his race at the Coliseum was not up to the mark. Part of the blame had to go to his arch nemesis Ross Chastain, who was a nuisance for Hamlin. Despite that and some issues with the car, Hamlin was able to salvage a 9th-position finish. Though fortunately, the Clash at the Coliseum is not a point-scoring race, or he really would have been hopping mad.

For now, all that Hamlin can do is prepare for the Daytona 500. This is a race that he has won a few times in the past, so he will be keen for a repeat performance. However, his biggest target will be to finally clinch the Cup Series title after years of trying and coming so close. If he wins the Daytona 500 this year, it would give him the impetus to try and get the coveted championship title.
