In the world of motorsports, any decline in performance leads to a swift change in perception. Drivers that were once revered for their achievements, can suddenly find themselves amidst a whirlwind of criticism and blame. And owing to this, NASCAR drivers usually find themselves under constant pressure – working relentlessly to meet the shifting expectations of sponsors, team owners, and fans. Highlighting the complexities that come with being a NASCAR driver, Fox Sports came up with a new short film Driver Pressure, where the sport’s Rowdy, Kyle Busch, shared his take.

Kyle Busch on How Stress Leads to the Worst Outcomes
Known as Rowdy, Kyle Busch is famous for his aggressive driving style and off-track rudeness. One of the most polarizing drivers in the history of the sport, Busch is often met with vehement boos during driver introductions, interviews, and even winning finishes. Throughout the years, the Richard Childress Racing driver has been involved in various physical altercations. May it be his 2011 fight with his present team owner or his 2017 fist fight with Joey Logano.
During the third race of the 2017 Monster Energy Series, Busch was running fourth before making contact with Logano. However, after the wreck, Busch ended in the 20th position while Logano finished in fourth. Upset by the events, an angry Kyle Busch walked up to Logano, and the two of them were involved in a violent fistfight – the one that left Rowdy bleeding in the forehead.
Explaining how his anger is a byproduct of extreme stress, Busch talked about it during his appearance in a recent short film. He said, “To me, racing in the Cup Series accentuates anything to do with stress. So, stress obviously of one of those outlets is going to be anger, right?”
And explaining how stress leads to heightened emotions, an expert in the short film shared, “Your adrenaline is flowing during anything that is that intense. And so anything that you experience is going to be intensified in terms of an emotional reaction.”
