Having switched from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing this season, the stage is set for a potential triumph. In a recent interview, the two-time Cup Series champion revealed his determination to end his six-year drought and take home the coveted grandfather clock.
With anticipation building, all eyes are on Busch as he gears up for an exciting race this weekend.
Kyle Busch wants to get back to winning at Martinsville
In a recent phone interview, Busch told The Roanoke Times, “I’m looking forward to it. Obviously, I’m having the opportunity to come up there to run in the Truck Series race, and then being able to run in the Cup Series race just to give us more action around Martinsville.”
He further mentioned, “It’s a cool, little, short track that’s been around for a long time, and I’ve won there a couple of times. Certainly, I would love to go back into Victory Lane and get that grandfather clock.”
The grandfather clock has been a highly coveted trophy awarded to the winners of NASCAR races held at the historic track. This tradition began in 1964 when the track’s founder and president, H. Clay Earles, decided to present a Ridgeway grandfather clock to the race winner as a distinctive and memorable prize.

Since then, the grandfather clock has become a symbol of prestige, accomplishment, and the rich history of Martinsville Speedway.

Over the years, one of NASCAR’s oldest active tracks has held a special place in the hearts of numerous drivers, fans, and teams. However, in case of the two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, his fondness for the track stems from a more personal connection.
According to Busch, the appeal lies in the family drive to Martinsville. He mentions that the journey, which takes a couple of hours, meaning that the venue is close to home. He enjoys spending the weekend at the racetrack before heading back to his abode.
