It is no secret how Kevin Harvick has had his wife’s support throughout his Cup Series career. Not only has DeLana Harvick been her husband’s biggest confidante, but also his biggest critic. Having said that, Harvick’s retirement from the sport has left the couple with an abnormal scenario.

For over two decades, the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver was part of the Cup Series. Indeed, it is difficult to digest the fact that Harvick will no longer be seen on the track. While the reality is not an easy pill to swallow for the fans, the same seems to be the case with DeLana and Kevin Harvick.

It is incredible what Kevin Harvick achieved in his Cup Series career. Having won a championship, registered 60 wins, 251 top-five, and 444 top-ten finishes, the veteran driver gave it all on the track. In fact, to date, Harvick holds the record for most Cup Series wins at Phoenix Raceway with nine wins.

While the stats only give a glimpse of the phenomenal driver he was, the Closer rejuvenated the sport with his presence. Unfortunately, NASCAR no longer has its beloved ambassador racing on the track. While his on-track duties have come to an end, his new role seems to be even more challenging.

Ever since Kevin Harvick decided to retire, he joined the Fox NASCAR broadcast booth. While he was an interesting watch with his insights into the sport, the booth has now closed until the first race of the Cup Series in 2025. Post his retirement, this is the first time that Harvick will be the least involved with the on-track activities.

While it is a change to adapt, it is a challenging one for him and his family. Recently, during the inaugural Cup Series at Iowa Speedway, Harvick’s wife DeLana expressed her disbelief at having her husband beside her at home during a race. She tweeted the abnormality in 3 words, “This is weird.”

Interestingly, Harvick is seen in a composed aura watching the race with his mobile and drink around him. However, the weird feeling reached even to the 2014 Cup Series winner. Unaccustomed to his wife’s antics during a race at home, Harvick found it difficult.

Just over an hour after DeLana’s tweet, Harvick tweeted, “I’m not sure I can watch races with @DeLanaHarvick she’s brutal…” Obviously, all of it was in good taste as the couple enjoyed some fun and banter watching the Sunday race.

However, this wasn’t the case with the NASCAR community. Many fans took the opportunity to make the most of it as they came up with wild suggestions to handle Harvick’s situation.

It is never easy for one to distance oneself from the passion that has driven you so strongly for years. While Kevin Harvick enjoyed his time on the tracks, it is understandable how he feels weird from the other side of the table. With retirement bringing such surprises, the former Richard Childress Racing driver could look out for various ventures now.

Luckily, given his enormous fanbase, he doesn’t have to look too far. While he funnily explained the difficulty of watching races with his wife DeLana, the NASCAR community provided some creative solutions. One of them advised with an explosive solution saying, “Get her in the booth!”

It will be indeed interesting to see how dynamic the booth gets if both Harvick and DeLana grace it together. While that seems to be a distant thought, another fan suggested a cheaper solution to it. He said, “You guys should do a team commentary at your house.” While it is a feasible solution, it can work out to be a game-changer for the couple.

On the other hand, a fan provided an instant answer by saying, “@DeLanaHarvick needs to join you, Kevin, on your podcast.” Imagine the banter the two of them will indulge in should this happen. While multiple innovative solutions kept coming in, some fans made Harvick realize the better position he is in now.

One said, “Has to be way better than listening to Denny run his mouth all week long on social media.” While that was a swipe at Denny Hamlin, another took a jibe at Harvick’s booth colleague Clint Bowyer. He said, “You’ve been watching them with @ClintBowyer or the last few months it can’t be that bad.”

It is amazing how the NASCAR fandom can chime in with their own humor. Most importantly, it is incredible how Harvick still manages to keep his fans involved and interested. While it is a bummer to not see him in the booth for the remainder of the 2024 season, it only increases the excitement to see him back in 2025.
