Winning a NASCAR race is indeed an emotional moment for the drivers and their families. Stewart Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe was the fortunate one to celebrate a winning moment after just his second Cup win of his career at Darlington Raceway.

It was indeed a special occasion for the driver, who has been with SHR since 2021. But for some reason, he wasn’t able to deliver his best on the track. As fate would have it, in the year when the team is competing in its last year, Briscoe will be the one leading the charge for them in the playoffs.

He certainly gave it his all to snag a crown jewel win to his name. Outsmarting the likes of Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch to get the No. 14 car into the victory lane. Now, NASCAR win celebrations are different compared to other sports. Apart from crews and the team owners, the families of the drivers are there to live those joyful moments. And Chase Briscoe’s win saw the continuity of that tradition with his wife and son.

Briscoe held his son Brooks in his arms while he expressed the outburst of emotions during the post-race coverage. His wife, Marissa, also made it down the victory lane despite being pregnant with twins, joining in the celebrations. However, her presence in the victory lane was possible because of Michael McDowell, who helped Marissa climb the pit lane wall.

She even thanked the FRM driver for his kind gesture via her X account: “Big shout out to this guy! I couldn’t have climbed that wall without him!” This gesture didn’t go unnoticed by NASCAR fans, and they hailed the driver for this class act on social media platforms.

NASCAR needs more heroes and souls like Michael McDowell

Marissa is expecting the birth of the twins anytime soon. Therefore, it was indeed an arduous task for her to climb over the wall and reach the victory lane. Delighted to see her presence, many fans were confused about how she was able to get there in the first place. Well, now they have the answer, “I wondered how you got there. You looked so cute!”

Briscoe’s last win at Darlington came in the Xfinity Series in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back then, his wife Marissa had a miscarriage, but winning again at the same venue, he had his son in his arms along with his wife pregnant with twins.

Sharing a heartfelt message for the Briscoe while appreciating McDowell, this fan wrote, “He is a good man! I’m so happy you got to see Chase win and celebrate in VL. Brooks is getting so big and is still as adorable as ever!! You are a beautiful mom!”

NASCAR is a sport that gives a platform to different drivers with unique personalities. However, both Chase Briscoe and Michael McDowell share a common trait of being reserved with creating a ruckus as others do. They rather prefer to do the talking on the racetrack, and this has garnered them a loyal fan base. “There is a reason that of the 23 diecasts I own, 3 of them are of @Mc_Driver and 2 of them are @ChaseBriscoe_14. Just upstanding and awesome citizens!”

Some even saw a funny side to this incident and stated that McDowell should be rewarded with a record to his name for his deed. “A gentleman for sure, but isn’t that a record of some kind? “One man helps 3 people over a wall, all at the same time” 😂😂😂.”

Both drivers will be making a switch to their new homes in the Cup Series after 2024. Briscoe is headed to Joe Gibbs Racing, while McDowell will land at Spire Motorsports.
