The NASCAR Cup race at the Dover Motor Speedway concluded with Martin Truex Jr getting back to Victory Lane after a long hiatus. However, the real story happened to involve a certain Ross Chastain, yet again.

Sometime during the race, he got into the back of Brennan Poole in the #15 car and spun him around. The out-of-control car then slid up the track, right in front of a startled Kyle Larson.

Of course, the Hendrick Motorsports driver could not react in time, so he crashed as well.

Naturally, the 2021 Cup Series champion was furious with the Trackhouse Racing star. In the end, poor old Larson had his race ruined, but not as much as Poole, who couldn’t compete after the wreck. On the other hand, Chastain went on to finish the race in second place behind Truex Jr and ahead of Ryan Blaney.

NASCAR fans shared the same sentiments as Kyle Larson

Safe to say, the #1 driver is rapidly losing allies with his antics on track. By the time the season ends, how many Christmas card lists will Chastain still be on?

Some fans confessed that they wanted to give the driver the benefit of the doubt. However, the fact that he ran into a driver at the entry into a corner was inexcusable to many. Few others joked that he was the real-life Ricky Bobby.

But on a serious note, many accused NASCAR of ‘protecting’ him.

“Is Ross Chastain the real life Ricky Bobby? Why is nascar protecting the 1 by not mentioning he started the issue? Weird.”

There were a few more memes comparing Chastain to the movie character, Wreck-It Ralph. Others joked that he is a heat-seeking missile for drivers who he has not wrecked till now.

One thing was for sure, a lot of fans were really mad at Chastain for ruining Larson’s race at Dover. Now, the #5 driver has joined a long list of drivers who are angry at Larson, but he may have to get in line.

Now, there is nothing that Larson can do, but wonder what could have been. Of course, he cannot afford to dwell on his loss for too long, because he has to focus on this weekend’s race at Kansas. This is a track where he has won in the past, so he should be a strong favorite to win once again. Though the #5 driver will be sure to stay as far away from Ross Chastain as possible.
