Back in 2017, Dale Earnhardt Jr got involved in a minor conflict with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. This was largely to do with the former Daytona 500 winner’s eating habits. As it turned out, one of his favorite foods, a banana and mayonnaise sandwich, did not receive a glowing report from Ramsay.
Earnhardt said, “So somebody had the bright idea at NASCAR to give him the ‘strangewich’ and let him talk a bunch of trash about it. Appreciate it, NASCAR. Smart move. Alright, Gordon Ramsay – ahhh, not sure about that guy. Not sure whether I’m a fan or not. I did get an email from Myron Mixon that said he’s full of sh*t, and I agree with Myron. Myron’s like, ‘Hey, I grew up on those sandwiches as well.’”

Suffice to say, the British chef believes that bananas and mayonnaise are two things that should not go together. He confessed that the concoction would most likely give him a bout of diarrhea for three weeks. Instead, his word of advice was to ‘Throw it away and start again‘. He also insisted that Dale Jr needed to call him immediately.

Apologies to Earnhardt Jr for bursting his bubble, but not many were fond of his sandwich; this also included his own wife Amy. But the truth of the matter was that Ramsay’s review was brutal. Naturally, Dale Earnhardt Jr was not too pleased with the British chef’s scathing remarks. On the bright side, he did get some support from another celebrity chef, Myron Mixon.
It is also worth mentioning that Gordon Ramsay served as the grand marshal for the Cup race at Dover. The Briton was present, as he is a bit of a car fan, having owned several Ferraris, Audis, and Porsches. He tried his hand at changing the lug nuts but failed miserably.
