This Central Florida native is a certified media- magnate. Mizelle grew up in her hometown of Winter Haven (only a couple hours away from the Daytona International Superspeedway), like “one of the guys,” as she called it earlier. Her family are devout sports fans, and her younger brother played college baseball while Kailey played soccer as a kid. She credits her dad for her love for sports and her mom for her media prowess, harnessed to perfection across the varying consumer spectrums of the United States. Growing up, Kailey was a cheerleader and a true baseball buff. She also anchored and won awards for her high school and middle school news programs.
Kailey went big time in the sports media industry right out of high school when she served as an on-air producer for FOX Sports, publishing 5-hour talk shows. But her incredible charm and ability to hold conversations eventually transitioned to her role in front of the cameras. As soon as 5 years after her high school graduation, Kailey took things a step further by merging her love for baseball and her chosen career by becoming a dedicated host/reporter and working with several Minor League teams.
“I met my husband working for a baseball team,” she once told the Sentinel Echo at the onset of her stint with CBS’ Kentucky affiliate WKNY-TV, only one of her various regional broadcast appearances as a sports anchor.
Speaking of her husband, Kailey lives in Tampa with the incredible man in question, Aaron Vargas, with whom she has a three-year-old son, Macario Benjamin. The couple has been married for almost eight years now. But on the topic of the Sunshine State, Kailey currently hosts a podcast titled “Mic’d Up with Kailey Mizelle,” backed by Bally Sports, where she talks to sports entities across Central Florida. Before this, she spent another three years at FOX again. This time as a digital content creator. All in all, Kailey boasts over 12 years of experience in the field of spectator sports and “content creation.”
