Sources had told Deadline that Taggart and Pall were looking for a romantic comedy ever since the pandemic had hit. They had peered through several scripts, but nothing clicked—until this script hit the hands of Dan Marcus.

As soon as Marcus got to finish the script, the ball began rolling, and it was rolling quickly. Things progressed at warp speed from then onwards. Westbrook Studios and Smith were very impressed.

They were looking for partners and Kick The Habit seemed like a great fit. The Chainsmokers have performed in NASCAR on multiple occasions, which made them suitable partners to have.
