It cannot be overstated just how important a spotter is for a NASCAR driver. But what if the spotter himself is having trouble because of some reason in their stand? That’s what recently happened with Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace at Road America.
In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Kraft described how at Road America, they used a new system, “a repeater system.”
This system started out as fine for something that they had never used before.

However, the only issue for the spotter was that he was “scanning” himself.
“When I keyed up to listen to myself, it sounded like there was an airplane landing in my right ear. I don’t know what the hell that noise was, but I had to turn that down to get rid of that,” Kraft said.
“When I turned it off Bubba was talking about it and he is like, ‘Why are you yelling today?’ I don’t know how loud I’m talking!”

Bubba Wallace reacts to his infamous radio rant
During the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville, Bubba Wallace had more or less a meltdown moment on his own team when he shouted expletives and let out his frustrations on the radio.
Speaking about this ahead of Road America, Wallace described what happened as something that stemmed out of one thing: “passion.”
“I want to win, need to win, gotta win. I have a team capable of winning. The car is capable of winning. So, that just creates passion. With passion comes frustration. Just gotta manage it,” Wallace said.
