Being married to a NASCAR legend comes with challenges. Amy Reimann and Dale Earnhardt Jr. started dating in 2009 but only made their relationship public in 2011. They knew the amount of spotlight that would enshroud them. It has been 10 years since they married in 2015, doing race interviews, advertisements, and reality shows together. Yet Amy still finds herself tongue-tied in front of the camera.

However, Dale Jr. is there to help her. He was known for his calm and detached personality during his early years. The 26-time Cup race winner usually avoided the limelight until his second Daytona 500 win in 2014. Following that, he became a Twitter sensation, opened an immensely popular podcast, and worked as an NBC broadcaster. Now Dale Jr. tries to teach some tricks to his wife.

Well, Amy Earnhardt’s profession was not very spotlight-centric. Having a bachelor’s degree in interior design, she became the director of Micamy Design Studio’s Charlotte location. Amy specializes in designing eclectic venues like corporate offices, hospitality, and residences – she met Dale Jr. when he hired her to design his home in Kannapolis. So after tying the knot with this legendary race car driver, Amy knew that the large NASCAR fanbase would have its eyes on her. The couple owns High Rock Vodka, a $400 Million enterprise for which Amy has shot several promotional videos.

Dale Jr. and Amy even appeared in a four-part reality series, Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy in June 2018 on the DIY Network. Despite this camera work, Amy Earnhardt confessed in a Dale Jr Download video that she still gets jittery in the limelight. “I’m always very nervous doing anything like that…I try to have fun with it and not get so in my head about the seriousness of it. I don’t know where it’s going and who’s going to see it – so that freaks me out.” However, Amy’s doting husband helps her out. “It’s easier when Dale’s with me, because he’s a supersonic pro, knows what he’s doing and he makes me feel more comfortable…He knows I’m going to get nervous.”

Amy Earnhardt continued how she gets goosebumps even when she is directed about what to say. “At first, even reading the teleprompter, I was like, oh my god. I’m going to stutter through the whole thing…I’m going to feel so embarrassed and will feel like crawling under the table.” However, Dale Jr. makes the whole experience a little less daunting for his wife. He tells her “Just to be myself, be comfortable…He tries to make me laugh, gives me jokes…constantly just trying to keep it light. I will get in there and there’s like pages and pages and pages. He’s like, ‘Don’t worry about it, we’re going to do one. Don’t try to memorize the whole thing.'”

Even Dale Earnhardt Jr went through such a scary experience before – and Amy Reimann was there to support him.

Helping each other – Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Reimann

A successful relationship or marriage works only when two people work on it. Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy Reimann have two beautiful daughters. They are Isla Rose, born in 2018, and Nicole Lorraine, born in 2020. Soon after retiring from full-time racing in 2018, Dale Jr could be seen happily executing dad duties – changing diapers, bottle-feeding, and giving baths. However, this happiness came after years of struggle. Before marriage, Dale Jr and Amy faced a strained relationship. Dale Jr was more interested in hanging out with his buddies than Amy during a weekend. Yet both chose to work on it – they consulted a couples therapist.

Besides trouble in their marriage, Dale Jr. was also afraid about messing up as a dad. His father Dale Earnhardt Sr. was known for his strained relationships and being absent from his children. He confessed in 2019: “So I was frightened that I was going to do that and not be prepared for it. Just not being responsible. I would’ve never known how to handle fatherhood at that age – was way behind in my maturity. I was a 30-year-old acting like a 23-year-old. So when I was 21…I was probably acting like a 15-year-old.’” Yet ultimately, he came around with Amy: “I wish I’d a got married sooner,’’ he said. “I wish I’d had kids sooner. I wish I’d figured all that out sooner.”
