From racing legend to business mogul, has Dale Jr. surpassed his father's legacy?

The streak of good news for Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans continues as the veteran driver bags another achievement. This week the Dale Jr. fans were treated to the revival of the #8 Budweiser car that would return on the racetracks. And now it looks like the co-owner of JR Motorsports is adding more accolades to his name for his non-racing ventures.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is among the few NASCAR drivers who have become successful business owners. He is a proud owner of not just a NASCAR Xfinity Series team but also a media production company (Dirty Mo Media), a restaurant chain (Whisky River), and a Vodka brand (High Rock). The joint venture of Dale Jr. and Amy in the spirit market is what’s making the noise after bagging the title of best craft vodka in America.

The High Rock Vodka is a passion project by the Earnhardt couple, and they launched the Vodka brand in 2022. This project came to fruition after Sugarlands Distilling Company collaborated with the Earnhardts. But what’s so special about the High Rock? You might have listened to triple-distilled brands out in the market, but High Rock is distilled seven times, which delivers a smooth and pure 88 poof (44% ABV). The 88 also matched Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s 2014 Daytona 500 win.

USA Today launched a special series, 10 Best, and they ranked the best craft spirits, mixes, and cocktails across the country. While Dale Jr. and Amy’s creation, High Rock Vodka, bagged first place in the craft vodka category, the Sugarlands Distlining Company also followed suit in the craft specialty spirits. This was indeed a clean sweep by the two parties, who have had great success with the brand in such a short time.

“🏅 High Rock has been crowned Best Craft Vodka in America for the second straight year in the @USATODAY @10Best Readers Choice Awards! @DaleJr @AmyEarnhardt & the entire High Rock team are grateful to all our awesome fans. Thanks for helping us achieve another #HighRockMoment!” The vodka company shared this on their X account.

Along with celebrating new ventures and success, Dale Earnhardt Jr. also took a stroll down the memory lane of his racing days at DEI in the Busch Series. Tony Eury Sr. joined him on his podcast, where he spoke about his struggles driving the #3 Chevy before winning the championship.

Like every young driver, Junior was inexperienced and eager to prove his worth back when he got his first full-time opportunity in 1998. However, his previous runs on partial runs a year before ended in crashes or tail-end finishes. The crash at Charlotte Motor Speedway even got the Intimidator fired up. Even before Dale Jr. could make his rookie start, he was staring at the possibility of quitting on his racing adventures until he had a chat with his father.

Recalling the conversation, he said, “Even though that happened, the conversation we had on the back porch was a good one that we never had before. I just needed to hear it from him. We had some pretty honest comments, I guess. You don’t have these conversations regularly.” And that was it, and although he had a rough start to his 1998 season, he gained confidence, won seven races, and ultimately clinched his first NASCAR championship.

Fair to say, since his early days in NASCAR, Dale Jr. has now grown to become a legend of the sport. And this is something his father, Dale Earnhardt, would’ve been proud of.
