Roping in a huge star

The Daytona 500 is potentially the most awaited event of the season, so it is also started in style. After all the necessary preparations from practice to qualifying, drivers sit in their cars. And they listen closely for that roaring call to fire up their engines, a privilege that NASCAR hands to The Grand Marshal. This prestigious role was reserved for Anthony Mackie in 2025. Mackie, a renowned Hollywood actor, recently starred in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. The film made $40 Million at the box office on opening day. His other movies include rapper Eminem’s film “8 Mile” and the Academy Award-winning film “The Hurt Locker” in 2009.

Captain America aka Anthony Mackie delivered the call at this year’s Daytona 500: “Drivers, start your engines!” Anthony Mackie also admitted that he has been a long-time fan of NASCAR. “I’ve been watching the Daytona 500 on TV since I was a kid,” Mackie said. “I grew up at the end of Richard Petty, beginning of Dale Earnhardt phase. It’s amazing to be here and see it and be welcomed in this way. The movie being No. 1 on top of that with America’s great race, it’s phenomenal.”
