A few weeks ago, former NBA player Matt Barnes sat down with 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace in an interview. Over there, they spoke on a variety of subjects and had a pleasant chat. On the back of that conversation, the 23XI Racing team surprised him with a lot of merchandise, for which he was very thankful.

The merchandise included caps, T-shirts, and a lot more paraphernalia. Needless to say, the 2017 NBA champion appreciated the gesture. Speaking of the ex-Golden State Warriors player’s interview, he and Wallace spoke about his upbringing and foray into racing. Wallace even spoke about his training regimen, early struggles, joining 23XI Racing, and his best victory. The #23 driver also spoke about mental health and the infamous noose incident.

What next for Bubba Wallace and Matt Barnes?

Currently, Wallace is preparing for the 2023 NASCAR Cup season after an improved 2022. Meanwhile, Barnes has happily retired from the NBA, which he did after the 2017 season. Safe to say, it was the perfect way to retire because Barnes literally retired on a high note, as a champion. He has a sports documentary called Matt Barnes Revolution coming out, which is about his journey post-retirement.

Wallace has been steadily establishing himself as a regular contender for race wins. It all started in 2021, his debut season for 23XI Racing when he won at a rain-interrupted Talladega race. There were some who called that win into question because the race was halted and never resumed. However, he went and silenced those critics a year later. That happened when he triumphed at the Kansas Speedway earlier this year.

Since that race was uninterrupted, nobody could deny that he won it fair and square. Now, Bubba Wallace will most likely aim to build on that victory in 2023. With Tyler Reddick as his teammate, his team will surely urge the #23 driver to push even harder and try to nab more wins in the future.
