After the Busch Clash, the Daytona 500, and more recently, the Auto Club 200, it’s fair to say that the Next Gen cars have been a hit for NASCAR. We are experiencing exciting, surprising, and even unexpected outcomes in the races that are purely down to the new cars.
However, on the flip side, the Next Gen cars that are making racing exciting and surprising are also the reason that teams are worried and anxious. While problems such as adapting to the radically new car, the supply issues can be fixed with time, there are some problems that will require a reconsideration of the elements.
Like the tire problem that jumped to the surface much higher than before in Fontana. Many drivers suffered a flat on the unforgiving, notorious asphalt of the Auto Club Speedway and left many fans wondering whether the tire crisis could be solved any time soon.

And in that discourse, former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace threw his suggestion.
He tweeted, “We know how to fix the flat @NASCAR tire issue. But it’s a lot of work. Cut 2” off the entire bottom of the car and install soft side skirts that will flex when the tire goes flat.”
“Right now the bottom of the car is like a turtles shell. It’s solid.”

NASCAR is “very aware” of the tire problem
Despite the recurrence of the tire issues throughout this season, it wouldn’t be fair to say that NASCAR isn’t acknowledging or working on this issue.
We saw how a directive came that allowed drivers to stay in the car while they were towed to the pit road. And only after reaching the pit would the crash clock start.

But this was just acknowledging the problem.
As for what they’re doing about it, journalist Jeff Gluck tweeted, “NASCAR seems *very* aware of the flat tires problem and also the issue of the tow trucks damaging the cars when they drag the rear diffuser on the ground.”
