Back in mid-2018, poor old Kasey Kahne had to bid farewell to NASCAR due to health complications. However, the racing community has been blessed with a fortunate development; Kahne is able to get behind the wheel once again. This time though, he has a different machine under him, namely a World of Outlaws sprint car. The best part is that he is competing in the series on a full-time basis.
In addition to that, he endured an accident in a sprint car in 2019, which left him with serious injuries. It got to a stage where some wondered whether his only choice would be to explore team ownership.

However, it seems that Kahne had other ideas on how to govern his own career path. In 2020, he managed to fully recover and be fighting fit and is now back in racing action. This time around, he committed himself to compete in the sprint car scene on the WoO circuit.

What did the former NASCAR driver say about his grand return to racing?
He confessed, “I thought I wouldn’t race a whole lot anymore. But now I’m really glad to be in a car and really glad to be racing again. It excites me. I feel really good about it. … My body’s really good again and my eyes are really good again, so it’s nice to not be dizzy. By Charlotte time last year and the season was about over, I really wanted to keep going. I didn’t want it to be over with.”
For this season, the 41-year-old is piloting a #9 Kasey Kahne Racing car, alongside Brad Sweet in the #49 car. Sweet admitted that he was surprised to learn of Kahne’s intentions to race, but respected it. According to him, if he were in the former NASCAR driver’s position, he wouldn’t do it.
Of course, Kasey Kahne knows that this is not an easy task. Even though he is 41, he is pretty much a rookie in the World of Outlaws arena. Naturally, he will not set very lofty expectations on his return to the racing scene. However, Kahne is eager to get going and get back in the groove.
