Former NASCAR Cup Series team owner and driver, Matt Tifft, found himself involved in a brawl after the race at Toledo Speedway. Tifft returned to racing this year, which includes dirt racing and Trans AM, and was presented with the opportunity to compete in the ASA STARS National Tour car as well.
Matt Tifft competed in the NASCAR Xfinity and the Cup Series, starting in 2015 part-time with Joe Gibbs Racing. But during his first full-time run with Front Row Motorsports in 2019, he suffered a seizure attack at Martinsville, which left him unconscious. Upon diagnosis, it was found that he had epilepsy, and thus his racing career came to a screeching halt.
Tifft had to undergo surgery back in 2019 to remove a tumor from his brain. This not only put his racing career on the brake, but his decision to step down as a team owner at Live Fast Motorsports, which he co-owned with B. J. McLeod & Joe Falk, was also because of his medical condition. However, in 2024, the 28-year-old has found his way back on the track tracks and is looking to continue his positive run.

Although he would have hoped for a good day of racing at Toledo Speedway, instead he found himself in a post-race altercation. One that ended on a bloodied note for him. Sharing the video of the whole incident via his X account, Matt Tifft wrote, “Had a great race until getting wrecked by someone who went on to take out 3 more cars. Can’t stand people with no respect for others’ equipment. Always a good sign when several teams thank you after confronting them. Hopefully, the last time getting VanMetered.”

As it turns out, he was outnumbered and floored by multiple guys from the opposition team. While it looked like a usual scuffle between the drivers at first. But out of nowhere, someone just booted Tifft in the face. Leaving him with a bloodied nose. Fans were livid with how the former NASCAR driver was manhandled and demanded legal action against the aggressors.
A reaction to Matt Tifft’s brawl at Toledo Speedway
Now everyone from the racing community knows Tifft’s history with seizures and his brain surgery. While the situation could’ve been resolved by peaceful means, they intended to hurt the driver. Reacting to his incident, NASCAR driver Josh Bilicki replied, “Wow. What a piece of sh-t. I’m sorry to see this dude. You did absolutely nothing wrong going over there and handled it much better than 99% of other drivers would have.”
Matt Tifft was glad to see the community and the race car drivers rally behind him after the brutal fight that ensued. In response to Bilicki’s message, he wrote, “Thanks brother. I’d say I’d bring you in for backup but we both need bigger help 😂😂”

It was clear that Tifft was indeed outnumbered when he tried to confront the team. Although the quarrel was between the two drivers, the crew members got involved themselves in a fight, which could’ve been avoided in the first place. The two drivers did exchange words after the brawl, reacting to his incident, this fan added, “crew members really need to stop involving themselves unnecessarily, I mean a kick to the face is no joke.”
But even those who had a neural stand on this incident condemned the kick that landed right on Tifft’s face. “Don’t care who’s side your on, that kick to the head was completely unnecessary.”
We all know how Ricky Stenhouse Jr. waited the entire race at NWS to get even with Kyle Busch. Usually, such type of aggression is followed by a payback, and this is exactly what this race fan was hoping for. But he was shocked to see how composed and calm Tifft was despite the physical fight. “Scrapping is one thing but literally kicking someone while they’re down is INSANE. Kudos to how calm you were cause I would’ve been waiting in that dudes driveway.”

Demanding legal action against the opposition team, this fan couldn’t believe that Matt Tifft was hungry for a pizza after being on the receiving end of a fight. “I understand a little pushing and shoving, but wow, that kick was completely uncalled for and should be an assault charge. Hope you got your pizza and feel better.”
The good thing was that Tifft was feeling fine after the brawl, and he devoured the pizza that he had ordered.
