Recently, Austin Dillon spoke about his 2020 season in an episode of NASCAR 2020: Under Pressure series. The driver acknowledged that he and the team were able to recover from a number of hardships. From there, they were able to get themselves in a position to win races.

He said, “We had a sticker in the car that says F.I.D.O. Just Forget it, Drive on. You can’t dwell on things that are out of your control. Some people thought that we’d be an easy out in the first round, but momentum is in every sport.

“We can go and upset a lot of brackets.”

Dillon has a point to prove and will be eager to bring some success to the Richard Childress Racing team. Considering that this was a team that boasted of the likes of Dale Earnhardt Sr in their stable, they want some success to return. With Dillon set to race for them through 2021, the team is placing a lot of faith in him.

How will Austin Dillon perform in 2021?

The 30-year-old has three wins under his belt, with one of them at the Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year. In the end, he finished 11th in the championship, and he will be eager to finish higher. The former Truck Series champion will be itching to break into the Top 10 and hopefully challenge for the title.

Truthfully speaking, Dillon is an excellent driver and RCR could not have picked a better candidate to guide them to glory. However, gunning for a Cup Series title is easier said than done. There are so many drivers and teams who are capable of challenging for the crown.

Additionally, there are also a number of newcomers from the Xfinity Series who have graduated. Thus, there are many young and upcoming drivers who are just as hungry for Cup Series glory, and ready to fight for it.
