There were reports surrounding Preece and if he would make it to the Cup Series, especially since SHR co-owner, Gene Haas had been adamant that Cole Custer should be given one more year to prove himself. However, at the end of the day, it was Tony Stewart who had an argument to have Preece in a Cup car which succeeded. Following this announcement, Custer will be sent back to the Xfinity Series.

Fans were not exactly excited at the news of Preece’s arrival. Some even suggested that they should have not let Custer hang to dry back in the Xfinity Series.
