NBC’s coverage of the NASCAR Cup races is somewhat in tune with FOX’s efforts earlier in the season. Usually, NBC does a good job of catching all the action on camera without unnecessary commercials and interruptions. However, the postponed race at the Michigan Speedway is turning out to be a frustrating one for the fans.
Initially, the live coverage missed out on multiple race cars losing their tires because they were under commercial. Now, due to another commercial break, NBC was unable to cover a major accident. Corey LaJoie’s No. 7 car was upside down after making contact with Noah Gragson. Unable to witness the bone-chilling crash during the coverage itself, fans didn’t hesitate to call out the broadcasters for this recurring trend.
This wasn’t Corey LaJoie’s first encounter where his car was upside down. He found himself in a similar position during the chaotic finish at Talladega Superspeedway earlier this season. The only difference between the two wrecks was that he wasn’t able to finish the race today, compared to his P18 at Talladega.

Having been relieved from the in-field care center, Corey LaJoie shared his perspective on what led to the horrifying crash. “The 10 chopped me a couple of times, especially off two. I don’t know if I haven’t watched the replay yet if he pulled it off the wall when I was trying to get to his left rear. That was a ride, buddy; there’s sparks and dirt and all sorts of stuff coming in. I just hate that our Garner Truck Camaro got a little danged up.”
Meanwhile, fans were left frustrated, having missed out on yet another major incident during the race because of a commercial.

Replays and highlights are available for the fans to revisit the action from race day. However, they come nowhere close to the live-action that is aired during the race. And missing out on a big crash wasn’t appreciated by this user, “We missed a flip are you joking rn.”

A few fans have been vocal about how deep of a hole the NASCAR subscription is going to make in their pockets. However, it seems like the rampant torture of commercial breaks has pushed the fans to pay a premium for interrupted race coverage. “We need a commercial free option! We Will Pay!!!”
One of the big changes in today’s coverage of the race was that it aired on USA Today as opposed to NBC as usual. But, NASCAR and its broadcasting partners could do a better job in tackling such last-minute hurdles, according to this fan. “Sure, glad we were in a commercial… why can’t we have a yearly subscription….”
Usually, X and social media platforms become the destination for race enthusiasts to keep track of the major events that unfold during the race. Unaware of the horrifying accident involving Corey Lajoie, this fan was mad for missing out on a major race-related incident. “Wtf just happened😭.”

This wasn’t the first instance where the race was interrupted by a commercial break. Joey Logano, Todd Gilliland, and A.J. Allmendinger blowing up tires were also missed. Frustrated to see the trend repeat, this fan added, “Commercials strike again!”
