It is no brainer that the track at Daytona has always occupied a coveted position in the hearts of NASCAR drivers. Irrespective of the formats, stock car racing drivers have aspired to flaunt a victory on this track, which has always possessed unprecedented challenges.

However, coming close to the victory lane and missing it by whiskers is a different pain to account for, and no one knows this better than Parker Kligerman. The track at Daytona International Speedway has always promised unexpected results, and Friday’s Xfinity race did not fail to live up to the expectations of the drivers as well as the NASCAR enthusiasts.

With high-octane drama and wrecks marking the track of Daytona, the race also bore testament to the rise of an unexpected victor. However, among the loud cheers and burnouts, Parker Kligerman was left heartbroken as a favorable day evaded his clutches.

Parker Kligerman gasps in displeasure after victory escapes from his fingers

It was a day to be remembered for Justin Allgaier and his team, JR Motorsports, as he was able to notch a win and put Dale Earnhardt Jr. vicariously in the victory lane. Allgaier was able to change the tidings of the race as well as his fate after being slammed with a penalty for failing the pre-qualifying inspection. He had to serve a pass-through penalty on the pit road as a result of the penalty. Nonetheless, it was not long before Allgaier climbed back into position and notched a victory.

However, it was Parker Kligerman who was forced to concede a defeat and ended up finishing P4. Regardless, Kligerman did not fail to express his displeasure at losing a victory and being forsaken by the drivers.

Speaking to Frontstretch, the driver expressed, I don’t know someone that wanted to push. I am proud of this Big Machine Racing team, we had a fast Bike Tour Chevy once again put in the top 5. It’s just you come down late in that race and the 7 [Allgaier] is in the best position, I got the 2 [Creed] who doesn’t want me to win, and the 11 who doesn’t want me to win.

The 00 [ Custer] on the last lap, I’m trying to back up to him, I’m like ‘Why will this guy not back up to me, and come up to my bumper?’ And then I’m like, -‘Oh, he’s the 98’s teammate.’

“And I’m like this is the worst position you can possibly be in. So I just felt like a lone duck. But you know what we put ourselves consistently in the position to be here and be forcing teams to make those decisions and I like that.

So we can take solace and we have a nice point buffer going to Darlington and Kansas, two places I feel very confident about being replicate the speed that we have for the last 11 weeks, so if we keep this up going in the playoffs,” Kligerman added.
