When its Playoffs time in the NASCAR Cup Series, emotions and tensions are bound to run high. Despite the second NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race at Richmond Raceway not being an action-packed affair, it was still an interesting race where strategies and mind games took charge.

The comments and pure display of emotion on the radio from drivers and their team members offered us an insight into what the drivers were going through mid-race. The Richmond race too had many such moments.

Austin Dillon has been the story of the Playoffs so far. He displayed his worth with two Top-5 finishes. He produced another strong show at Richmond and finished 4th despite a small mistake towards the end.

And some words of motivation from the team owner Richard Childress could have helped his confidence.

You guys have a good night. No mistakes guys. You all have done a great job. Lets go close it out,” Childress said on the radio just before the race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was in commentary, also spoke about how fast Dillon’s No. 3 car was last weekend. Even during the race, Dillon’s spotter pointed it out to Crew Chief Justin Alexander. “You’ve got yourself a rocketship there, Justin,” he said.

Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski almost made contact during the second stage. Things could have turned bad but didn’t. However, there were some strong disagreement there. “Guess we should’ve run into him at Darlington,” Logano’s spotter TJ Majors said.

Reigning champion Kyle Busch “in trouble”

Reigning champion Kyle Busch had another rough day. Midway through the race, he faced some issues and said to his team, “I am really really really really in trouble.”

Impressed by Dillon’s run, his spotter again stressed how fast the car was. “Yeah, we’re the fastest car by a bunch right now,” Brandon Benesch said to Dillon.

However, Brad Keselowski was just too strong that night. He used all his experience to keep Dillon and the others at bay. “Man, that’s awesome. Set out with a goal and we got it here, bud. Thank you very much,” Keselowski said to the team.

After another interesting race, the focus shifts to the first elimination race at Bristol Motor Speedway this Saturday.
