We covered an unlucky NASCAR Truck Series star a few days ago. He crashed out at Bristol with Ty Majeski, had technical difficulties early on at the Rockingham Speedway race that derailed him. Yes, it’s Frankie Muniz, the 39-year-old actor-turned-racer. He recently said that he feels “oddly cursed or something”. Muniz entered the NASCAR world as a full-timer in 2023. His one top-five and 11 top-ten finishes in the ARCA Menards Series paved the path for glittering prospects. However, Muniz’s full-time venture with Reaume Brothers Racing has led to disappointing results in 2025. That is why he was reeling under mental struggles recently, but his movie reel family came to help.
Long before Frankie Muniz contemplated joining NASCAR, he was part of an on-screen adventure. He starred as the protagonist in the popular sitcom ‘Malcolm in the Middle’, which aired from 2000 to 2006. He acted in the show as a teenager, so it feels like a breath of fresh air to go down memory lane. Muniz got that much-needed breather recently.

A happy reunion helped Frankie Muniz
It takes guts to come out with your inner struggles. Frankie Muniz did just that on April 21st, writing in an X post: “If I’m being 100% honest … Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low.” Indeed, the start of the 2025 season has spelled a grueling schedule for him. Along with pursuing a full-time NASCAR schedule, Muniz is involved in a four-episode reboot of his old TV show on Disney+. As if juggling both duties was not enough, Muniz’s racetrack finishes exacerbated his issues. In the most recent NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series outing at Rockingham Speedway, Muniz finished 23rd after encountering mechanical issues. His power steering burst, and he had to drive with a “ripped a hole in my hand. Probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
With his races going haywire, Frankie Muniz was distressed. However, his busy schedule was a blessing in disguise. The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ reboot allowed him a reunion with his father and mother in the show. Muniz posed with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek in a picture, where we could see the star smiling broadly. Muniz captioned, “Always good to have Mom and Dad around!” The visible shift in the racer’s mood was a good sign that he is adapting to his struggles.

The Malcolm in the Middle revival will feature Malcolm or Frankie Muniz and his daughter (Keeley Karsten). They are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party. The original creator, Linwood Boomer, returns as writer and executive producer. Bryan Cranston previously revealed how he had pushed for this revival: “I’ve been trying to get this going for 12 years. I was the one poking the bear, going, ‘Let’s do it, let’s do it, let’s do it.’ Finally, Linwood Boomer, our creator of the show, got tired of me poking him. He came up with some really fun, terrific ideas.”
Now, Frankie Muniz can look forward to a more cheerful season with his show parents by his side. Fans are also no less heartened to see their favorite actor in a better state.

The NASCAR community heaves a sigh of relief
After all, little ‘Malcolm’ stole the hearts of his audience perpetually. After his Hollywood blockbuster presence, Frankie Muniz pursued his passion for racing. Although his results do not match his expectations, Muniz is making progress nonetheless. Muniz clinched his first top-ten finish at Daytona after Parker Kligerman got disqualified. Then his average finish of 24.4 keeps him at par with the 2024 RBR driver, Lawless Alan. So one fan is hoping to see him healthy again: “Hope you’re doing OK today. 🫶” Others were heart-warmed to see his happy reunion, as they commented on his reunion photo. “This is awesome to see! Especially after your tweet yesterday. Keep on keeping on Frankie 🤘” Somebody else counted him lucky to have amazing movie parents: “You’ve got a lot to be thankful for, glad to see you’re feeling better.”
Other people were simply pumped to watch the renewed episodes of ‘Malcolm in the Middle.’ As Bryan Cranston aptly put it, “We left the airwaves 20 years ago. All the boys are adults with their own children.” The show stopped airing in 2006, so fans have a lot to catch up on! So one fan cannot wait to see the sequel: “i just rewatched every season, i’m so excited to see you all together again!!!” Somebody else observed the marked improvement that Frankie Muniz registered after reconnecting with his roots. So they encouraged him to do more screen time: “@frankiemuniz please come back to television, movies and commercials!”
