NASCAR struck a massive blow to Hendrick Motorsports last week. After the team was found guilty of modifying louvers prior to the race at Phoenix Raceway, a collective fine of $400,000 was imposed on them from the governing body. However, HMS were not just hit in monetary terms. They also face a deduction of 100 owner points and 10 playoff points for each of their driving teams. One must imagine that this might not hurt a team of their stature, but it isn’t the case. And Dale Earnhardt Jr had gone on to explain the same.
For years, Hendrick Motorsports has been one of the strongest teams in the NASCAR Cup Series. Any sort of monetary or technical hurdle hasn’t really been a problem for them. But with NASCAR’s recent penalty, they are in a fix.

Recently, Dale Earnhardt Jr spoke in detail about the penalty scenario on his podcast “The Dale Jr Download”. The 48-year-old expressed how impressed he has been with NASCAR getting strict with these penalties. He explicitly pointed out how the governing body is strongly restricting everyone from messing around the gray area with such heavy fines.
During the same discussion, the two-time Daytona 500 winner pointed out how paying the fine is manageable for teams, but it’s the deduction of points that is a big loss. He said, “I like em [NASCAR] to do things that are going to deter this across the board and, and frighten the entire garage right, from messing around any grey area. And points are the one thing that, that is so precious to these teams.”
He added, “They [teams] can figure out, find a way to pay the monetary fine, they can figure that out and make that work on the book...Now points are common than fines and that’s because NASCAR knows that’s the one thing that the teams, are not really willing to give up.”
So now we know what would ache HMS the most. Recently, reporter Bob Pockrass confirmed their appeal date concerning the penalty. It will be taking place on Wednesday morning.
Hendrick appeal will be Wednesday morning.

Obviously, fans had their own reaction to this. They couldn’t help but bring in the discussion of the points deducted. Some of the fans are optimistic about their expectations. They believe some points will be given back to the Cup Series giants.
Got a feeling some points might be given back.

A lot of points (all of them!) and a lot of money (all of it) needs to be returned to @TeamHendrick because the penalties are 100% @NASCAR’s fault and they should penalize themselves!

Really hoping the penalty is taken back or lessened.

Possibly giving back the playoff points and maybe the crew chiefs if anything. I believe the fine and driver points will stick if they do win the appeal

I mean I definitely see it, their argument is very clear and the problem wasn’t contained within one organization

Some fans also believe the appeal will bring no significant change. They believe the points deduction will not be reversed, which poses a big threat to HMS’ playoff chances.
Hoping HMS Wins appeal. If they don't than BOWMAN And LARSON Are In Serious DANGER of MISSING The Playoffs.

They should just give it up, it’s pointless.

Many questions have arisen about the penalties imposed. It is interesting to see how the appeal goes. Will NASCAR bow down and reduce the penalties? Or will Hendrick Motorsports fail to counter their arguments successfully? We are up for an entertaining time come Wednesday.
