In 2014, Kyle Busch had a light-hearted yet exciting moment when his car featured pictures of his pets. “That’s pretty cool,” he said back then. Since then, the NASCAR world knows how much he loves pets. He often joins hands with multiple brands to promote the adaptation of shelter dogs and many more. While you can be a pet lover, you won’t like kitty litter rained down on the field.
That’s what happened with Rowdy during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Running in his first Truck race of the season, Kyle Busch dominated in his No.7 Spire Motorsports. He led almost two-thirds of the race and registered the 67th win of his career. While everything was perfect for Busch on Saturday evening there was a moment which frustrated him.
On the 78th lap of the race, Rajah Caruth found himself in the middle of a massive wreck. Rowdy’s wingman driving the No. 71 Spire Motorsports truck suffered a tire failure that sent his machine sideways. With no time to react, trucks behind him piled in, turning a simple mishap into a wreck-fest. William Sawalich was among those caught up in the carnage. This forced NASCAR officials to throw a red flag. However, what happened afterwards was worse.

As the trucks sat on the track under the red flag, NASCAR’s safety crew attempted to clean up the spilled fluids. The plan? Use a jet dryer to blow away the absorbent material—better known as kitty litter. What they didn’t account for was the fact that the race trucks had no right-side windows. When the jet dryer passed by, it blasted Busch and the rest of the field with a cloud of sand and debris.
Busch, already coughing from the dust, took a sarcastic jibe at the situation. “They’re going to blow all of that right into our trucks. We have no right-side windows. I’ve never owned a cat, and I can see why,” he quipped on the radio. NASCAR’s decision to leave the trucks on the track during the red flag baffled many. Instead of bringing them down the pit road, they let them sit. The result? Drivers were left covered in a layer of dust, and the track still wasn’t fully cleaned.

His comments resonated with fans as they slammed NASCAR for such a silly mistake. Some expected how Rowdy would react after the race as he is known as a no-nonsense man. One fan summed up the frustration and tweeted, “I can’t wait for @KyleBusch after the race! The interview is going to be a classic!” Notably, Kyle Busch wasn’t just upset about the cleanup blunder as he was also concerned about track conditions.
Even after the dust settled and the race restarted, the track was still not entirely clean. Busch and several others noted that small debris scattered across the surface. Despite this chaos, Busch didn’t let the setbacks throw him off his game. He had been dominant throughout the race, winning Stage 2 and taking the checkered flag. Busch now has two Cup wins, eight Xfinity wins and eight Truck wins at Atlanta. However, the fans weren’t done talking. Between Caruth’s wreck, the kitty litter disaster, and Busch’s win, NASCAR Twitter exploded with reactions.

NASCAR’s wild move sparks the internet frenzy!
The internet had a field day with the wild events in Atlanta. From the massive wreck to the unexpected dust storm, fans couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. Many slammed NASCAR for its poor handling of the red flag situation. “Can NASCAR get any dumber? If you have to red flag, bring them down the pit road. Good grief,” a user wrote.
Notably, unlike caution, which keeps cars running behind pace cars, the red flag stops the race. Drivers should move to pit road during a red flag, but NASCAR officials told the Truck group to stay on track. Meanwhile, some fans felt surprised that Busch didn’t sound angrier on the radio. “That seems way too PG for Kyle,” a user posted. Others couldn’t help but admire Busch’s humor in the situation. “If KB didn’t have so much damn talent in a racecar, he would be a comedian,” one fan joked.

Even though Busch felt frustrated, he made the already ridiculous situation even funnier with his witty remarks. One of the best reactions compared the entire situation to a villain origin story. “NASCAR out here just creating Sith Lords…” Given how absurd the situation had been, the comparison felt spot on. While NASCAR fans rallied behind Kyle Busch, he might be looking to forget tonight. Despite winning the truck race, he will look to start afresh on Sunday. Notably, he will start from the sixth position and will have an uphill battle against ten Fords around him.
