NASCAR fans are still going gaga over the iconic race finish at Atlanta. What was titillating about the event was the unexpected heights of fandom the race reached. Daniel Suarez is currently basking in glory. But sometimes non-NASCAR entities also take the racing world by storm, as one has done in the past day.

The Rock drew massive crowds just to see him be the Grand Marshal at the Daytona 500. Elsewhere, pop sensation Taylor Swift dominated the NFL world after the Superbowl game. Similarly, a sports enthusiast going by the name of Icy Vert on Twitter has drawn a lot of traction from NASCAR hotshots.

A sports and gaming content creator with X username @IcyVert, has garnered massive following recently. In less than a day, veteran racer Kyle Busch followed him. Xfinity Racing tweeted: “@IcyVert  Wait, you’re from Philly and just didn’t hear NASCAR take over the streets a few years ago?”

Even Kaulig Racing hilariously tweeted: “What’s an Icy vert and is it contagious.”

NASCAR replied to Icy Vert’s mirror selfie post: “A mullet would add 10 extra horsepower.”

Some fans were evidently baffled by the sudden skyrocketing of popularity of Icy Vert in the NASCAR world. “We know adding horsepower isn’t real you guys tell us all the time.” Another user lamented: “Bro got the official nascar now. I’m done 😭”. One fan tweeted: “Follow back @NASCAR who should i be a fan of?”

Some fans were doubtful about this person’s legitimacy. “Icy is an industry plant bro aint no way 😭”. Another fan said, “HE GOT NASCARS ATTENTION???”

In response to the attention, Icy Vert tweeted, “so yeah this has been a lot. I want to publicly thank all the NASCAR drivers, tracks, amazing men and women behind the scenes that have reached out to me. Most importantly all the NASCAR fans that have been nothing but nice THANK YOU ALL! I’m excited to learn more about the sport and will be open to debates in the future 😉 see yall on the track.”

Kyle Busch was not happy with the Atlanta finish

Busch started off the 2024 season on a positive note. He secured a victory in the Truck Series race, driving for Spire Motorsports. But Atlanta had different plans for him. He finished third with Suarez getting the edge by a narrow margin of 0.007 seconds.

“Yeah, it’s frustrating,” he said post-race. “I mean I hate it because I felt like we were one of the top-five cars today and had a good shot.”

He blamed his eyesight for not watching Ryan Blaney, who came second, carefully. “I was looking at the 12 and I swore I was ahead of the 12 at the line, but obviously my eyes are bad. Need more powerful glasses, I guess.”

Kyle Busch is getting back into the talk of the town, especially after following Icy Vert. Let’s see how far this trend goes.
