Nothing is impossible in NASCAR, and Saturday bore testimony to that. The most popular driver in NASCAR, Chase Elliott, is set to miss the playoffs for the first time in his Cup Series career. The Hendrick Motorsports driver, who had been sidelined for 3 months due to a broken tibia, had failed to notch a victory to ensure his postseason seat.

It is often said that “failures are pillars of success”, and perhaps the 2023 season has been one such failure season for the No. 9 Chevy. Yet, it does not define the end of the world and is the bitter truth in every athlete’s life. There is always room for improvement, and Chase Elliott has a brighter road ahead of him.

However, it does seem that the world of NASCAR has reached a tipping point because of the fanaticism of the media and in relation to Chase Elliott.

Chase is a champion”, NASCAR veteran Kyle Petty spills the beans on Chase Elliott missing out on the playoffs

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 was the one last chance for 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott to ensure his playoff berth, and the track had been unyielding. Regardless, Elliott was ready to alter his fate on Saturday and take his shot at winning in Daytona, but the driver fell a few steps short in front of the Ford Armada.

Chase Elliott received a significant amount of help from his Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports teammates, but he was unable to break the impenetrable bond of the Blue Oval teams, finishing P4 in the race. Thus he lost his chance to enter the playoffs. It is not the first time that a championship-winning driver has missed the postseason for the first time. The likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. also faced such days.

After a disappointing season, NASCAR fans had surely braced themselves for the day when Chase Elliott would miss out on the playoffs. On account of this, Kyle Petty issued a message to Elliott. The words were posted by NBC on its Instagram page. The words were, Chase is a champion, and Chase is going to continue to move the Hendrick Organization forward.”

However, he also added, It’s just not your year, dude. You’ve got to ride it out.”

They took to the comment section to express their displeasure with it.

A fan wrote, “I’m an Elliott fan and I don’t understand why we’re talking about him, we got 16 playoff storylines let’s cover those.”

With that being said, it will be interesting to see how the playoffs transpire. With Bubba Wallace entering the playoffs for the first time in his Cup Series career, will he be able to make it big on the NASCAR tracks, or will his dreams crumble early? Time will only be able to answer these questions.
