As the 2024 racing season gets underway, fans will have the honor of seeing NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr back in a race car this coming weekend. The 2-time Xfinity Series champion will participate in the Late Model race in the Icebreaker 150 at Florence Motor Speedway. He recently shared a video of his preparations on his Instagram handle and more than his return to racing, fans seemed to be intrigued by his taste in music.
The Icebreaker 150 has its roots in the now-defunct Myrtle Beach Speedway, where the first edition of the event was held in 2016. This year will be the ninth edition and it will see racers like Junior, Carson Kvapil, and Sam Yarborough take part. The event will be streamed live on FloRacing and the Late Model race will take place on Saturday, February 10.

Junior will be running the #3 JR Motorsports car in the event and will have Kvapil as one of his teammates. He shared a video on Instagram of him running the car on the Florence Motor Speedway track. It was great to see the 2-time Xfinity Series champion do what he does best after what feels like a long time.
“Had fun today @fmspeedway. Was a bit wet this morning, but cleared up enough this afternoon to try some things. The Icebreaker is February 10th on @FloRacing,” Junior captioned the video on Instagram.

This will be the fifth time overall and second straight time the 49-year-old is taking part in the Icebreaker race. Last year, however, Junior did not have the best performance as he could only manage a P16 finish. His teammate Carson Kvapil finished P18 to cap off a forgettable day for the former Hendrick Motorsports star.
While it is always great to see Dale Earnhardt Jr on track, fans were more taken by the song he chose for the video. It was Aerials by System of a Down. Anyone who is into rock or metal music knows just how good a band SOAD is. They are a cult favorite and their songs are considered to be legendary. Fans approved Junior’s choice in the comments section of the Instagram post.
