Home/NASCAR

As the NASCAR 2024 on-track action continues to deliver on all fronts each weekend, one major dilemma persists. What’s the point of such thrilling races if the coverage isn’t up to par? At least for the Xfinity Series, there seems to be an answer in sight with the CW’s entrance. That said, the same isn’t the case for the Cup Series, as FOX and NBC can’t catch a break from fans’ wrath.

Only recently, fans highlighted the lack of commitment on FOX’s part after Xfinity team owners revealed the CW’s warm welcome. So after insiders made a startling revelation about the NASCAR Race Hub and its existence on FS1, tensions boiled over.

FOX’s iconic NASCAR Race Hub meets an untimely end.

Over the past decade and a half, NASCAR fans have slowly grown accustomed to turning on the Speed channel and watching NASCAR Race Hub. It is an easy-going weekday show that consists of an hour-long analysis of races and interviews with team owners and drivers. It was originally hosted by Adam Alexander and Krista Voda. But after 4 years on Speed, NASCAR Race Hub was moved over to Fox Sports 1 in 2013.

This is when many fans got to familiarize themselves with the show that the NASCAR community knows and loves today. Introducing a format widely popular today, the show would occasionally ditch the traditional route of using trained hosts and instead opt for drivers and crew chiefs as analysts. From Michael Waltrip to David Ragan, a few iconic names have graced the show with their presence and will continue to do so.

That is, until June 11. Various sources recently revealed that NASCAR Race Hub will air its last episode next month. Known for its iconic ‘Radioactive’ segment, which compiled the best in-car radios from the weekend, NASCAR Race Hub’s end was something no fan expected. After all, if FOX was choosing to stay in the sport, why do so without one of their best products?

One reason could certainly be the existence of Harvick’s Happy Hour and how such podcasts are pulling in better numbers. But for veteran fans, the atmosphere was rather gloomy. Motorsports insider Austin Konenski highlighted this dilemma: “FOX recommitting to NASCAR for the Cup and Truck Series in the new TV deal and then canceling Race Hub is very questionable. That’s not going to make fans happy at all. I’d love it if FOX gave a reason behind the decision because this is tremendously disappointing for everyone.”

With how the CW had impressed Xfinity team owners by highlighting their importance in the introductory meeting, FOX reducing their offerings in Cup left many scratching their heads. Unfortunately for NASCAR, Konenski’s intuitions about the fan’s sentiments couldn’t be closer to the truth.

Whereas some who had even worked in making the NASCAR Race Hub what it is today were left feeling upset; This is a gut punch for the industry. So many people have touched on the programming, the features, and the short docs. I always enjoyed being a small part of it.”

On the other hand, fans who had been critical of FOX’s recent decisions found another reason to call out the broadcaster. One fan stated, “Can’t say I’m surprised. Not sure why they even signed a new TV deal with the lack of effort they have been giving NASCAR and now this. Seems like they have been trying to get rid of Nascar and this just adds to that narrative.”

When another user simply pointed out “That sux”, one fan took it up a notch; “It’s sucked for over a decade. When NASCAR America was on NBCSN that was the show”
