At Sonoma Raceway, Bubba Wallace had yet another unfortunate race. The 23XI Racing driver has had a season full of bad results that stem mostly from things out of his control.
Things like a bad pit stop, things like being wrecked, things like having important crew members suspended, unfortunate things, like that.
This time around, though, it was an engine failure that made sure Wallace’s car and his race came to an end, one painful inch at a time as his #23 Toyota slowed down.

The 23XI Racing driver was quick to rue his luck to his fans as he posted a pretty fitting and funny tweet after the race. “*engine has left the chat*,” he wrote on his Twitter.
And in response, his fans made sure that they keep their driver’s head up so that his confidence doesn’t fall down. Many of Wallace’s fans cheered him on and reassured him that his time will come, that the second half of the season will perhaps bring more fruit.

I am becoming more a fan of you every race. You meet things with poise and dignity. Many could learn from you. They will not though. You could win the NASCAR championship one day. I imagine those narrow minded..will say the season was rigged. Oh well. Keep on pushing. 🫵🏾

Bubba Wallace emphasizes on the need to have a good weekend
After his retirement from the race, Bubba Wallace revealed in an interview that his engine failure wasn’t something that he or his team smelled from a mile away. It was, in fact, in his words, “totally random.”

“I went to shift at third at one point, it didn’t go, I pulled it again and it went fine, had no over revs and nothing,” Wallace further described.
As for what they need at this point in the season, all things considered, Bubba Wallace kept it simple.

“Just need a clean weekend, that’s all,” he said. “We did really good on Saturday. Saturday was really clean and just wasn’t able to have a good Sunday. So once we get a good two days, a good weekend, we’ll be fine.”
