Ford Mustang is indeed a household name for a muscle car. Over the years, Shelby has graced the gearheads with some incredible machines, but there is something special about their very first-generation 1965 Shelby GT model. Initially built for racing enthusiasts, the Wimbledon White paint high-performance car has become the most collectible Mustang ever. One thing we all know about vintage Mustangs is that they are expensive, and so is the case with this classic piece.

One important thing to note about the 1965 Shelby GT 350 is that only 562 units of this American muscle were manufactured, so it is rare to see that they are on sale. However, there is good news for Mustang fans as they will get an opportunity to add this vintage car to their collection. The No.555 Shelby GT 350 from 1965 will be on sale at the Scottsdale auction from January 20-28, 2024.

It is one of the most expensive muscle cars available today. According to a recent record of the auction sale of GT350, it was sold at a whopping $455,000. So yeah, if you are eager to add the very first performance Mustang designed and developed by Carroll Shelby, you will have to take a massive dent in your pockets.

The heart of the Shelby GT350 holds a standard 289-cubic inch V8 engine with Shelby’s very own performance parts like Cobra Hi-Rise intake manifold, lightweight tube header, and four-barrel carburetor. This allowed the GT350 to pump out a peak output of 306 hp. Another distinct feature of this muscle car was the paint, Wimbledon White, with optional blue strips, which became a must-have for all the buyers.

As mentioned above, the muscle car was built for racers, which justifies the build’s resemblance to a street car. It was not seen as an ideal road car. So, it did not have cool features like air conditioning and power steering, but the engine’s acceleration and raw power certainly helped the buyers look past the feature drawbacks.
