NASCAR’s race tracks are mostly known for one thing, which is racing. But sometimes, American fans like to display their Wild Wild West character to chaotic extremes. Talladega Superspeedway, known as the party capital of NASCAR, is notoriously known to host such debauchery. Fans engage in all sorts of intoxication-induced frivolity, sometimes even tipping off the legal borderline.
After Tyler Reddick seized the trophy at the GEICO 500 race, 23XI members burst into celebration. This time Tyler Reddick was overjoyed after attaining his sixth career win at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. While Brad Keselowski and Michael McDowell battled and crashed, Reddick slipped forward and grabbed the lead. “It was chaos. When you come to Talladega that’s what you expect, that’s for sure,” he said. However, later that day, wilder times were seen coming on the track.
Upholding Talladega’s infamous reputation, a young lady took part in some ostentatious behavior. This invited NASCAR’s wrath, which fans were not very happy about. In a deleted Instagram post, a few women took the stage before a cheering crowd and proceeded to undress. One lady in particular chose to go topless, turning things a tad more lewd. The sanctioning body took steps accordingly. It banned the woman for her behavior.

Although Talladega was known to be wild, in 2014, a mini-festival called ‘Big One on the Boulevard’ was launched to make things official. Drivers and celebrities joined fans in chaotic contests like cheese-eating tests or ‘make a human taco’ competitions. With stripper poles spread across the venue, nudity was an accepted form of entertainment.
Former track president Grant Lynch sanctioned some of that in 2017, saying, “There’s a little bit of that (nudity) and that’s OK.” “Constant exposure is not something we’d go for. The place at one time was so big and so vibrant that we were a little worried about just keeping control and keeping the deed to the property through Sunday morning,” he added.
However, things started getting more strict, especially after the pandemic. But diehard racing fans, as is evident, are unwilling to pace with the times. They had a lot to say about the recent incident.

Fans were outraged at NASCAR instead, calling them overly strict for banning the lady. One fan straightaway declared war on the body: “BOYCOTT NASCAR ✊” Another fan chimed in: “Time to cancel NASCAR.”
One fan pointed out how racing fans have a taste for the wild. From men wearing nothing but Goodyear tires to women trading obscenity for booze, Talladega Boulevard is known for wild partying. “Unacceptable! This the ENTIRE reason 1000’s of fans go to races. Way to screw up last great bastion of widely televised American sports,” wrote one fan while criticizing the decision.
In fact, this also reminds us of the discussion of grid girls in motorsports. When Formula One banned them a few years ago, many questioned if even NASCAR would do the same. However, the concept of grid girls wasn’t as popular in NASCAR as it was in F1.

Some fans mentioned, “FREE HER 💯.” Another fan quipped: “I thought USA is the land of the free?” Further, another person openly called out NASCAR for punishing her, writing, “Well it’s time to quit watching NASCAR. If they barred her for doing that.” But let’s not forget that though NASCAR harshly penalized this lady for her actions, a few years back, the rules weren’t as stringent at Talladega.
Also, remember the 2017 Cup Series race in Dayton, Ohio? The event’s sponsor, ‘Monster’, had signed up some scantily clad models to parade near the track. It may have done wonders for the ratings, but NASCAR fans were divided on whether it was needed. What are your thoughts on this issue?
